I never finished High School.
I did pass every grade because I always passed the tests but never did the homework, so right around a c/c- average.
Ended up getting a job and saying fuck it.
Not the wisest choice.

A very bad student. My grades were always fine, I just didn't fit in. Always correcting the teacher and getting into hefty discussions... I just can't resist provoking when I can feel what the teacher is thinking in that moment  .

I have had a headstart since kindergarden, I could read at young age... The other years aren't that much interesting. Did a mixture of Economics/Languages in one crappy school. Then moved to an art school:heart: and started doing graphical techniques. Then I got kicked out of that school because I couldn't get there on time, I had to take the earliest bus but still I couldn't get there on time. Dropped out and ever since i've been (depressed) interested in chemistry, mostly just learning for myself right now. As I have so many interests :smirk:

Going to do "adult - education" soon. AKA getting my chemistry major.

Ah and definetly this, I smoked with a few teachers at that art school. That school was filled to the brim with drug users  . Alcoholic teachers / blazing teachers. I should write a book about all the crazy things that happen there :awetongue:

I hate class learning.  I did the bare minimum to get through college.  I got a B.S. in C.S., but BARELY

I don't really care though.  Got a good job and a good wife out of the deal

check out biology, some type of wild life/forestries conservation stuff, IST and etc.

Go to college, take classes in all different things, go to club meetings, join some clubs, talk to your advisor, meet random professors.

I was as confused as you are when I got to my university.  I thought I would major in political science and wanted to go to law school eventually so I took some Political science course and it showed me within two weeks that I did not want to get into that because I would suicide down the road.

I took a random class, enjoyed it, realized that I can make a living off of exercise and am now trying to eventually get my masters in exercise physiology and do thangs with that.

I went from wanting to be a lawyer to a health and fitness instructor, life's funny like that.

haha. all my teachers thought I was high. But I didnt start smoking until after highschool.

I was pretty close with my Advanced Creative Writing teacher, so through him I found out that all the teachers thought I was a pot head. He actually stood up for me and defended me and said I wasnt a pot head and that I was a good kid. I actually only know that because he asked my friends if I smoked pot to make sure he was in the right in defending me.

Its good to find a career that has what you enjoy.  But I think that what is often over looked is fostering enjoyment out of the career you get.

For example, you may not particularly like teaching at the moment.  But you mentioned being a teacher, and you could foster and nurture enjoyment in such a profession.

People have a tendency to dismiss how plastic and adaptable our brain and personalities are.  People can grow and learn to love their careers, even if they are not perfect dream jobs.

So would you say having a college degree is worth it even if your grades werent so good?

i got a minor in philosophy as well

whatever you do don't stop learning (even if it's for fun)
my motto is: you stop learning you stop living

if you want to do something in the outdoors focus on geosciences/geography.  my buddy graduated with a degree in Environmental and Resource Management Concentration and got a job as a ranger (giving him plenty of time to think about philosophy and make music)

whatever you do just make sure you are happy with it.  better to change sooner than 30 years down the road

Yes, I would.  I made lifelong friends, learned a lot of stuff in my classes (even though i got shitty grades) and it's easier to get "your foot in the door" with job interviews with a 4 year degree on the page.

After a couple years of experience in the real world, the people hiring you don't really give a shit about GPA unless it's some 6+ figure job.

ourdoors stuff some colleges have like "recreational worker" jobs.  I thought it was BS and blew it off but then walking through some career fair on campus, a lot of those people are going on to work with camps, tourist places, on cruise ships.  Lotta cool stuff.

I didn't give a crap in highschool, but i still ended up with like a 3.75.  I guess I just did the bare minimum to get by, and AP classes definitely helped cushion my GPA.

When college started I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life, partied all the time, and thought I could skate by like in highschool.  As such, I ended up getting a lot of B's and a few A's here and there my first three semesters.  I got one C in a 1 credit hour lab my third semester, and felt pretty shitty because it was solely due to laziness.

Then I decided what I wanted to do, realized I needed to kick it into gear if I wanted to succeed, and have gotten straight A's since then.  Right now I have a 3.77 cumalative, with a double major and a minor.  I'm currently in my last semester, and am already all set for next year, so its hard to stay motivated (but part of me still wants to get all A's til the end).

I still kick myself for the first few semesters.  I know college is a time to have fun, but with the price most people pay to go there, its just dumb not to give it your all to get the most out of it.

this is the kind of advice i needed

i'll probably end up doing it, just because I like the fact that I can help influence young minds, and the vacations are perfect, they dont drug test  and the pay is enough for an average lifestyle which is all i want.

i can't think of anything else i'd enjoy doing.

Oh thank god. Haha.

Sometimes I get into this headspace where I'm like "omg if I dont read this chapter tonight I'm not gunna get an A on this test and I got B's on the other two and I cant get a good job with B's I'm just wasting all this money on a B average degree which isnt gunna get me a job anywhere and I'm gunna end up working as a busboy for the rest of my life even after pouring all this money and effort into college"

I used to think I wanted to be a part of the psychedelic therapy scene and be a major player in getting psychedelics assisted therapy into the mainstream. But I'm starying to realize that unless you go to Harvard and get a 4.0 no one is gunna take your ideas about "those crazy hippy drugs" seriously.

guess part of growing up is getting your dreams crushed. But I am really good at reading people and understanding where they're coming from so I think I'd make a good therapist. I'm the kind of guy that people come talk to when they're having a bad trip, I'm the kind of guy that will give you solid advice when you need a friend to bounce your thoughts off of and I give a shit about people enough to be dedicated to helping them. And I'm strong enough to not be manipulated. So I think I could still have a future in some kind of therapy. But until psychedelics get legalized for therapy I'm gunna have to do it without them

All through out school and high school I was a pretty good student...I was always a quiet kid unless I had friends in my class, and my grades were usually B average.

In high school I was one of seven kids (out of 3200) that had a 3.0gpa or higher, no absences, no tardies, and perfect citizenship. That all changed at the end of my junior year, with out going into the details a bunch of shit was happening in my life. I failed a few classes and there was no time for me to make up those credits my senior year so I dropped out . I was 18 at the time so I just walked into the office one day and signed my self out....

It was a bummer being a top student all through out school, from kindergarten to 11th grade. Then at the very end it all went to shit...Story of my life I tell ya

:stoner:

yeah. it sucks man. i feel the same way.

but the sooner you realize you're not special the better I think. Gives you more time to work hard and make yourself special in some way.
