Could Jesus envy be the reason some people become cult leaders, and try to elevate themselves to prophet status (at the very least) ?

It is pretty common to want to be perfect, and perfectly loved.

Jesus sounds more like penis
Seriously though, there is no reason not include all those. Were the Egyptian Pharaohs not portrayed as divine also ?

It's not a case of wwjd, it's about them reading and hearing about this guy, whose apparent achievements have led to them being revered for hundreds and even thousands of years. Then thinking I'd like a piece of that pie.

I'd like to be strung up on a cross and stabbed through the heart?
Or the bit, I'd like to have the power of God and be able to perform miracles?
I'm sorry but I find this concept of 'jesus envy' incredibly silly??
Envious of a fictional character? Are we envious of Batman or King Arthur?

I don't know, that is what I'm trying to establish. It seems to me that anyone seeking out this kind of role may have some sort of fixation with religious figures. They would also be motivated not by compassion and empathy, but by self importance and pride. Wanting to perpetuate their own 'wisdom' and power over any followers.

I don't think this has anything to do with Jesus. People were doing these things long before Jesus arrived. Have you read the Old Testament?
And I don't agree with you saying that some people are envious of fictional characters. They may want to emulate them but noone is going to be envious of something which is not real.

It doesn't matter if the envied is an actor playing a character in a movie or a neighbor.

Brainstem your making the assumption that a person can be envious of a fictional character. I'm disagreeing with that premise.
I disagree because in order to be envious there must be something to be envious of. In the case of a fictional character not only do they not exist but all of their 'possessions', and power don't exist. So if none of these things exist then I argue that it is impossible to envious of them.
Would you care to defend your premise?

Ok.
The person doesn't need to be REAL in order for one to be envious of it. Have you ever watched cartoons as a kid ? I remember having a he-man sword and yelling in the middle of street - by the power of grayskull !

I actually provided a justification/explanation of my argument. You just said "it is because I say so".
Oh wait you used a childhood anecdote of you yelling in the street...
And you call my argument retarded?

So you're saying that a person CAN'T be envious of a fictional character.
He-man is a fictional character. I was envious of him as a little boy.
I win.

Well I'm saying that you are incorrect with your concept of envy.
You may have admired He-Man as a little boy but as far as actually envying him, it is not possible.
And I am only going to take your childhood anecdote with a pinch of salt because it was a long time ago and your memory of the occasion is very limited.
Why don't you bring up a story from your adulthood? I'm assuming you are an adult...

Maybe.. They are all the same person transformed by years of stories with alternate details. Religions are results of interpretations of this one persons techings within seperate cultures.

For me , admiration and envy aren't that far apart. WE always admire that which we don't possess. There is always room for a little bit of envy. You would be lying to say you know which one you're feeling because unlike admiration , envy is somewhat of an unconscious feeling.

Anyone who thinks Jesus actually did NOT exist is living in a delusion. There is more evidence that Jesus actually existed than there is of most any other person in history.
