Hey everyone, I'm still kind of new to the LA area and was wondering what are some good scenic places to trip in the area. I'm looking for a place that is not too crowded with people, and safe to spend a few hours tripping with a couple of close friends. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys!

uhh
idk if you're familiar with freeways
but rocky peak off the 118 is a nice place
or if you take the 405 towards santa monica
there's this carls jr to the left, and to the right theres a bunch of cars parked, there's an amazing hiking place back there.
or if you look up Paradise Falls in Thousand Oaks - absolutely beautiful.

Thanks dude those sound like the kind of places I'm looking for. I looked up Paradise FaLLS and it looks sooo sick, thanks for the input this is awesome. We will be taking 4 tabs each and Paradise falls looks like it would be so trippy and peaceful, do u know if their are usually a lot of people their on weekday afternoons?

It's not really in LA. About an hour and a half away from downtown. I've been there during the week, never more then 5-10 people. It's funny though, they're almost always all tripping though. I climbed to the top of waterfall on mushrooms once, and realized I couldn't get back down, and spent about 2 hours flipping out, before I found there's a back exit (another tough climb)
You're not really supposed to climb the jagged 90 degree waterfall sides though
It's an awesome place. There's Indian caves scattered along too, and it goes way deep into the canyons.
You'll have an awesome time.
If you ever get bored head out towards Santa Clarita, there's some amazing places off the 14 freeway.

It's not that complicated to take the ferry across from Long Beach. I did it quite a few times when I lived in So Cal. Never tripped out there though, but I think it could have the potential for epic. Avalon might be a little intense, but around the isthmus is pretty chill (or at least used to be) camping and stuff.

If you can afford to get out to Catalina, that sounds fun. Kinda pricey for the ferry ride though.
I'd rather do the beach myself. Not sure you can find many secluded beaches in LA though. I know there are some down in OC if you know where to look.
I'd rather find a more secluded hiking trail than one of those "touristy" 2-3 mile ones where you're bound to run into a lot of people. But that's me. I wouldn't mind tripping in one of those spots, but all of the people would be a bit of buzzkill.

I can't recommend Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area more. Huge park with trails. Lots of people, but no one cares what you're doing. Lake, stream, ponds, open fields, trees, amazing 360 views of all of the South Bay - my favorite place to trip in the city.

Corona del Mar and much of the coast south of that area served me well in the 70s.
There was a set of cliffs where people were flying RC gliders and some people were flying hang gliders. Watching the RCs and suddenly seeing a hang glider that seemed about 5 million times larger was just a trip!
and they are ALL COLOURFUL TOO!
