Don't worry about it man. I have a 12x24 hood and I do 20 bags at a time in about 45 min.

nice one. So how do you prep your grains for bags? I finaly surmounted the biggest challange which was grains and got the quart thing down, but know that bags require special attention. what size PC do you have? I plan on getting an AA 75X soon but right now I'm using the AA921 which you can only do 7-10 quart jars. I did two bags with 12 cups of rye each for 2.5 hours at 15 psi.. Could I put more bags in my pc or Not? was 2.5 for two bags too much? Thanks to you as well as mycoelf for all your help.

I use a presto 22 quart pc for my bags. I can fit 6- 3 pound bags or even 4 pound bags. I use 5 gallon buckets to soak my grain, then I cook it in a large drum, then I use buckets with holes cut to drain the grain.

I use a scale and that is 3 pounds wet. I pc them for an 1 hour 45 mins, let it depress totally on its own, then I wait like another 30 mins, finally I let them sit on the shelfs. The cooling creates pressure and refills my bags, they usually blow up to their full potential in a few days. They are as simple as smoking a bowl once you have your rhythm down.

so 1h45m is enough to successfuly sterilize 6-3lbs bags of RYE? Also do you seal them before you PC them? If so it sounds like you do LC if I'm not mistaken? If so do you add the injector port after you pc and how much lc do you use per bag?

the way you pack your pc has a correlated effect on pc times. Everyone has a little different take on substrate prep, so a thorough rinse after the simmer/soak phase irrigates and washes tons of bacteria/contams away, you can get indicator strips to place in your most buried location in your pc to give you an idea if your time and temp is in the zone. You could also pc some sub and set it aside as a control to find out if an unopened un inoculated bag develops any contams

I soak longer than the 24 hrs normally recommended. It helps to germinate more bacteria.

ya last time I did the more than 24h soak I had a gelatin substance on the surface of the water.. I might of asked this before but what is your take on senences? I've heard it can happen quikly and some say it might never happen as long as you keep the mycelium running? Other than using a back up can I just purpetualy keep transfering to plates? especialy if it's an iso VS. a clone?

If you isolate from a print, just store a master and you will always have something to go back. When I do my LC, I make a quart of LC, then I store 10ml in as many vials as I will need. I use these to start my half gallon or quart batches of LC. When I run out of vials, I go back to the master slant, start another plate, and make more LC. That way by the time my mycelium hits grains, it has only touched one dish, a master LC, and the inoculating LC. I have never experienced a problem with senescence but I also store all my plates that I use to get from print to isolate just in case I need to re-isolate. I took an oyster print and got an isolate, then I took the leading edge of growth and did 20 plates in succession with the same agar, and 20 plates changing agar recipes every four plates. The first 20 had problems by about plate 14 at colonizing the whole dish. The second batch of 20 however never showed any problems. I still have a sample from the final plate of the second batch that I use from time to time with no problems.

I really like to be able to keep this thread going and talking to you guys and picking your brains. If you could please PM me your proceedure in detail I would be super stoked. I know that you guys are way more advanced than me but I would like to gift you guys with an edible of your choice.. Let me know and I will get a master slant for you guys for all the help you are giving me. You probably already have these but if I can I would like to gift you guys as a token of appreciation.

here figured you guys would appreciate this. It's my sweet potato dextros agar (SPDA), this was taken this morning 9 days after and are both P-3 values. Red Boy and Brazilian.
notice how thick the seperation is?

kick ass, mare sure to include these pics in the mycelium on agar thread, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/8328896 and get the leading edge of your new isolates into slants.a.s.a.p. Remember RR's trick about putting he little piece of wood in the slant, I used toothpicks pre-soaked in a 10% ME water and PC'd with on the same run with agar.

I was gona use those stir stix from starbucks.. I'm assuming 10%ME is (malt extract)? Do you soak the wood for 30 then just add to plain agar? I was planning on doing it your way, water suspension, the shroomjew's way and experimenting with some agar types. like just boiling the sweet potato and adding that to the agar, no dextros or other additives. these seem to be pretty solid genes.

I do both but I like using water suspension the best. I have had to re-do 150 slants because their time was up. I moved them to water, now I can stare at them and use them for around five years. Fuck now I am going to be bored, just kidding.
