Your prob right, it's pointless, and can only lead to more disrespect.

Wow, I come back and there's 3 pages of BS in what's supposed to be a remembrance thread? Cool it people.

Exactly.
teknix, chill out.
If you have a problem with Icelander then report the thread or send a PM to diploid and explain your point of view. I don't really see how any of this nonsense is on topic here.

But anyone who's been around this forum long enough can hardly deny that he was also a little unstable. He was given to paranoia and could go off on someone for the most vague imagined slights. The fact that he made positive contributions is no reason to sugar-coat his neuroses. I still remember him positively in spite of such quirks.
More or less how I feel, though I also agree with Icelander that respect is being honest.
He was a bright guy and knew more about intelligent design than anyone I've ever met or even read of (to the extent they demonstrated such). I can appreciate that despite him imagining conspiracies that included me as one of the perpetrators. Especially since that groups seems to include about half the members here, lol. Comfort in numbers.
Orgone: he called the FBI on you? What?

While I never knew Mr Mushrooms in person Or "crossed swords" with him I can just imagine from what I saw Of him fighting the likes of in here That if there is a better place What better place to start
At least you didn't have to defend yourself in death Against the likes of here You surely would have tried so hard like always. But thankfully others had the class to do that On your behalf and in your honor
And while some might say God or fate or something made your death happen just how it did You got a bad deal with that disease Hope you didn't suffer too much but it was a likely a struggle Still. Your fight is over now so RIP Mr Mushrooms

Most threads if not all go off topic. Why would this thread be different? I promise you MM won't be offended.

It's hard sometimes to remember that there are real people behind all the text on this forum. I enjoyed debating with MM and definitely had several interesting ontological and ethical arguments over Instant Messaging.... and now he's gone forever. May his philosophizing soul rest in peace.
RIP
dammit! now i am never going to find out what Philosophical Evidence is.
but i am honestly sad to hear this.
MM was probably the first person on this sight who really irritated me. but i also felt he was a great character to have around and a smart guy... and i missed him when he stopped posting... he definitely added something to this forum.
rip MM.

Personally I think if you don't want to defend your argument you shouldn't make it. Seems reasonable to me.
I was being polite in letting you know I don't have time to have one of the interminable dialogs with you. Personally I think people should do as they please with the time they have. I could have been a rude asshole and just left you hanging. I had the common decency (something pretty rare around here) to at least answer you.
Every point I have made is self-contained, i.e. it is its own rebuttal. That is, I gave reasons for the points I made. But, like before when you didn't understand the points I made, you don't understand them now. Sorry, that isn't my problem, it's yours.
There is only one thing worse than arguing over some stupid opinion thread: arguing about the arguing. People who spend the bulk of their time doing that must not have a life.
Thanks for the tip though. The next time you respond to me it will fall on deaf ears. I'll ignore you as if you don't exist.

yeah, I think it was true.
I also don't think its neccesarily insulting to MM. MM was who he was and thought what he though. Others also thought about him what they thought. That he wasn't all things to all people isn't a slight against him: he got along with some better than others.
Just so happens that I was one of the ones he didn't get along with so well after a spell. The strange thing is I don't really know why. I mean, I always disagreed with him on several points, but one day he seemed to take it personally and forever after. Was kinda strange since I'd been arguing against his Intelligent Design beliefs in the philosophy forums for the whole time I knew him, so it kinda seemed like a strange turn of events.
Doesn't mean he was a bad guy or whatever- some just thought it was strange. I know I wondered about it.
