Quick! is this Tric?!

Alright. So here it goes. I'm pretty sure there was a slight spot of BRF that was not covered with myc when I birthed it. Mycelium grew on it, white big blog, then turned light blue, to a darker shade daily. I tried scrapping it with a q tip to see if it was a mold or bruising, and nothing came off. So I assume it's bruising.  But now it looks really bad? Was it really stupid to birth it with a half a dime size missing of myc? Most importantly, is this a contaminant?

either cut out a small peice with a sterile knife or leave it alone. I would probably leave it alone if I were you. If it gets considerably bigger, its a contam so cut it out. Even though the pic is good I cant seem to see if its bruising or contam. have you harvested a shroom from that spot?
If its contam you can cut if out then fill the hole with table salt. never tried that but Ive read it in a few places.

That's not trichoderma, but it's not very healthy looking either.

Looks like some pretty intense bruising for sure, and some metabolites. And it doesn't look like they're getting enough fresh air. Did that part of the cake get waterlogged at some point during the grow or something?

Keep an eye on it and see what develops, toss it after those few pins mature, or toss it now if you're really worried, it's just one cake after all.

Whatever you do, don't try to "cut out" anything from the cake, contamination or not. If it was trich, and you cut out a chunk of contaminated substrate, you'd be spreading millions of microscopic trich spores throughout your grow area, and risking future grows. If you notice trichoderma before it sporulates (turns green), then you can apply a crude salt paste to help push it through the flush. It will still need to be tossed directly after harvest though.
