Primordia forming. Drop rh now?
    #1411757 - 03/26/03 03:50 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

At what point once pinning has begun should one drop the RH?

It depends, on cakes it is ok to keep rh pretty high all the time ( 95-98%). On casings you generaly want to keep it around the 90% mark.

Cased rye 50/50ish coc/verm. Pins are around 5-6 mm high in some places. The conditions to induce pinning were an rh of 95 - temp 74 - 24hr light. Is now the time to drop rh to say 85-90. Or should I wait for the pins to develop a bit more before lowering the rh? Also the casing surface looks a little dry. It has been recommended that this IS a time to mist. Im nervous to do so however, at such a crucial time, (pins forming) Should I mist or no?

What about the use of a small ultrasonic fogger I have?...would this be beneficial if controlled properly. I find it hard to keep the casing surface moist with the lower rh. Leads me to believe I should have added more verm to the casing mix. Next time. Thanks for the pointers thus far. Im probably overly worried about nothing. Its my first case / grow of any kind. Ive never even seen a zoomer that wasnt dry before....

It`s not such an exact art.
Just fan them a bit more.
The pins will come regardless.
