Malt to water ratio for liquid myc?
    #1411695 - 03/26/03 03:23 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Okay, so I'm getting ready to do some liquid myc jars, and was wondering what amount of extra-light malt extract to use for each jar, or if someone had any ratio that I could convert to my liking. I'm figuring on using both large baby food jars and wide half pints; I'm thinking for a half-pint I would use maybe half a regular tablespoon; would even this be too much? Thanks for any info-----

Yeah I saw that one- the applicable tek there says 4% malt extract to distilled water by weight> that sounded a little strange to me, considering malt is light as funk and water is heavy, do you know how this would translate for a half pint? I'm not sure but I guess I can weigh some water on the digi and do the conversion, but I am thinking that would translate into way too much malt. ???

4% is correct for powdered malt extract .roughly 1 tbl.sp. per cup .
for malt syrup use about 1:10 ratio .

sweet, thanks Dean-O for the translation. I did 6 jars last night right around that ration, give or take a small amount. They still look clear coming out of the pressure cooker, so I should be cool. Thanks man
