"PANDORA" PXR4 digital recording studio.
It's tiny!

Anyone else record their own music? What do you use? Also, any tips with my teeny tiny new four track recorder?
I'm used to analog, so the Digital will be brand new to me.

Yeah Sonar is a DAW (digital audio workstation) similar to Pro-Tools or Logic. Made by Cakewalk.
I like it. I suppose it's easy enough to use. I've been messing around with it on and off for a few years. The UA-25 that I posted above came with the learning edition which is pretty easy to figure out. I ended up downloading the Pro version for some extra features though and it has a lot of stuff I haven't even touched.

I like korg equipment, I've played around on a few of their synths. For recording, I have a Presonus FireStudio box with eight mic inputs and eight (the same inputs as the mics...) plus two line inputs.
Been a minute since I seen my setup, it's at a buddy's house right now. Could be wrong on the specs, but I know it's badass. It's a firewire based box plugged into a mean re-purposed Dell box that has a workstation graphics card and runs Gentoo Linux. Always recorded everything I've ever dreamed of.

I use Reason 4 and a midi keyboard, 'cause I'm much more of a composer/arranger than a performer.
By the way, the keyboard is a Behringer UMX49.

Awesome!
I used to use reason, as a good friend of mine is a recording artist and that is what he used! Osmosis.
I am collecting gear that is for perfomances as well as recordings, I love live shows and REALLY putting on a show for the people. No other feeling like it in the world
I have a piano, a Wurltzer upright electric organ, a small toy air organ, two guitars (one acoustic one electric), a violin and an electric violin & and old antique steel adding machine that I am using for percussion.
People seem to like cubase so I think I may give that one a try.

I'm going to be purchasing a track recorder very soon.
I have to recorded straight to my computer, and it works fine for what I do, but sometimes I think having a recorder would be easier.
I recorded a track tonight actually, and was thinking about how much better it would be to have one

From an engineering point of view, recording via direct input is a gigantic pain in the ass.

Indeed it is
Although it's worked pretty well for the stuff I've made, it's definitely no where near as good as it could be using one of those bad boys.
I've been meaning to pop into one of the music stores around town and just look at the prices of some of them.

My good friend Adamist recorded all his music on that exact digital recorder!
His music
I helped out with a handful of the songs as well, but the majority of the credit goes out to him.

I tried clicking the link but it wouldn't work for some reason
I wanted to hear that, to. Try to compare it to my direct computer input recording set-up to see how much better it sounds
