dont have the same passion in music these days
    #14115881 - 03/13/11 07:13 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Now I'm sure thats not completely true, there still is passion but rarely do you ever hear songs with as much passion as this (pinkfloyd-pigs)

It's because most musicians are wannabes that just what to make a buck off the current trendy genre. Mainstream is just that, real shallow shit. That and music is over produced to shit these days. LOUD!! LOUDER! LOUDEST!!

You might be getting older. I've noticed the music I used to LOVE isn't as appealing as it used to be.

I use this to measure the capabilities of all musicians:

Nobody's came close :highfive:

And I like Dogs more then Pigs, but apples and oranges.

As far as modern music is concerned, I'm liking Trip Hop more and more, those dudes have some passion.

Jimi still lives on. He's travelling threw very far away distant galaxy's as pure energy trying to find a way back to earth. Come back Jimi.. come back..

I hate how most main stream music now days sounds "blended". At least to me. I have not watched t.v. or listened to the radio in months now.

Yeah I agree he still lives on. Dude's been dead for 40 + years now but I feel like he's still touring sometimes. I find new releases from him all the time and new video's as well.

Strange days.

I havn't bothered with mainstream music in ~3 years

I end up yelling at the radio half the time. "SHUT UP!"

While I respect and love the older artists, I certainly don't believe that the days of passion are gone.  Sure, if you flip through commercial radio stations it's unlikely you'll find anything that will melt your soul.  But it's out there.  It might just take a little more digging to find these days.

I could list off a bunch of course, but everyone's tastes are so different that it's unlikely I could post anything that would make you say "Yeah, this is great, ShockValue is right!", but I stand by my statement.

Music is as good as it ever was, maybe better because there is so much more variety now... but it does take quite a chunk of your time to effectively hunt the good artists down.

I have not heard any good modern blues-rock bands.  Can anyone recommend me some?  That would be so sick if I can find some good stuff, like Jimi, Stevie, Zeppelin, Clapton style.  Just hardcore blues rock.

Music is passionless if you have no idea where to look.

I know there is too much music filled with passion for me to ever listen to.

There's just as much passion in music today as there ever was.

Back in their heyday, bands like Pink Floyd and the Jimi Hendrix Experience were mostly underground for a long time. A lot of people have an illusion that such bands were plentiful in their time, but the fact is record companies right now are mass-promoting manufactured music that is guaranteed to appeal to the masses instead of taking their chances trying to promote newer ones. All those great bands are cataloged and their music is easy to find, and all the pop bullshit from back then has been forgotten.

Which is what they've always done.

Excuse me if I'm babbling, I'm still amped from the coffee.
