Also, I know it's not a fruit, but roasted almonds on a pizza is fucking amazing. It gives it it nice texture and soft crunch

Inflorescence (sp?)
It's like a flower bud turned inside out. It is a misnomer to call it a fruit.

I think botanically, if it has seeds, it's a fruit. Vegetables would then be considered stems, roots, leaves, etc.
Fruits are considered a luxury, whereas vegetables are considered necessary for health. Because fruits are considered a luxury, they are taxed much higher. The supreme court classified a bunch of fruits as vegetables in order to lower taxes on them, to help people get the food that they needed.

They might have changed it again, but we just discussed this in bio class. That's just how fruits originally became considered vegetables, but I have no idea how long ago it was.

I'm sorry, I had it the other way around.
Quote:
The Tariff Act of March 3, 1883 required a tax to be paid on imported vegetables, but not fruit. The case was filed as an action by John Nix, John W. Nix, George W. Nix, and Frank W. Nix against Edward L. Hedden, Collector of the Port of New York, to recover back duties paid under protest. Botanically, a tomato is a fruit because it is a seed-bearing structure growing from the flowering part of a plant.
It was to get more taxes, I guess, not to lower taxes.

Either I misheard something she said, or she misspoke. I'm not 100% sure, but I can tell you for sure that lots of fruits are considered vegetables for tax reasons.

You sir are a zestful beast. I would much rather eat a lime/lemon by itself rather than on a delicious piece of pizza.
I think you guys are going too crazy with trying to fit in a new vegetable/fruit.
the availables are fine.
It's all about the cajun chicken.

So say the obstructors of progress! There is definitely room for innovation, it will take a lot of failed attempts though/
