Could this be cobweb mold?
    #14114462 - 03/13/11 02:22 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Greetings,

I had to leave town for a few days and when I came back, a lot of my cakes have this really fluffy stuff all over them. I am not sure if this is mycelium or cobweb mold. The areas in question look pretty white, but in some other areas they look a little "cobweby". Anyway, I can't identify it so I put some pictures on here to see if anyone would be able to help me out.

Thanks so much!!

- UPDATE -

I just sprayed the fuzzy areas with 3% h202, the fuzz immediately disappeared and sizzled.  Is that a good indication of cobweb mold? Should I treat the entire fruiting chamber with 3% h202?

Thanks!

not sure about the h2o2 but that looks like normal mycelium to me, increase your misting, i am sure it will be fine.

if you want to treat the fruiting chamber rather use bleach (10%) but first take the cake out while you doing it.

Would fluffy mycelium shrink away from H2O2?

I hope I'm not just killing off healthy myc!

Looks like good myc to me too. If you left it for a few days probably just from co2 build up.
I dunno about the hydrogen peroxide killing myc but id just leave that as it is.
