 Tips for Getting Marijuana Started Outdoors

.... it's time to start planting your cannabis seeds so i decided to give ya a couple of tips on getting those little things started outdoors..
pinch your seeds lightly .. the ones that crack, throw them out.
take four-layers of paper towl and dampeN them pretty nice
put the seeds about an inch apart on two layers of paper towel.. and cover them with the other two layers.
take a gallon-sized or other zip-lock bag.. and put them in the bag.. make sure to use your hand to get excess air out of the bag and make sure the moisture content is good..
if not add a couple of drops of water to the bag. seal it off and let it sit on top of your computer moniter or some other warm place... check the bag every 48 hours by peeling back the two top layers of paper towel.. then put them back in the bag and seal them up.
the optimal length for a root is around 1/4 of an inch. once the seeds have popped open and the tap root is that long.. its time to plant them.
get some small styrofoam cups and poke a tiny little hole at the bottom...
find some nice potting soil preferably some w/ miracle grow or other fertilizer in it to give your little seedling a boost.
fill your cup up w/ the soil.. add enough water so a nice amount is dripping through the hole that you poked and make sure water is distributed evenly troughout your soil so when you press your thumb on top you can see water around your thumb.
take a pencil and make a nice little hole and put the germinated seed root down into the hole and cover it lightly with soil.
put the cup by a window that has direct sunlight for a good 8 hours a day..
make sure that you water your plant ONLY when you press your thumb down on the top of the soil and it is DRY.
once your seedling gets its second pair of leaves.. 3-fingered leaves..  and the cotyledon fall off ..
TIME TO TRANSPLANT!!
let your soil dry out just a *LITTLE*
pick a good spot w/ nice sunlight and make a nice-sized hole about 1-ft deep by 3-feet wide and 3-feet long. fill it up with your potting soil and add water... just enough to get all the soil nicely wet.
take your cup and put the stem of the plant inbetween your index and middle finger.. turn the cup completely upside down and tap on the bottom and you should have the soil all come out in one piece
make a nice little hole in your potting soil and firmly push the plant w/ its soil into the hole. cover the base of the stem up w/ a nice amount of soil to keep the seedling supported...
water when the plant looks a little droopy.. and keep on watering until you have a nice little cannabis plant...

So I couldn't simply make a plot of potting soil and then just throw my seeds in it? You HAVE to germinate first? (i have never grown b4)

Darn, your missing out on alot of great outdoor activites. It's pretty awsome to watch her grow from a little bean to this nice lushes green cannabis plant within months and then flower and have sweet smelling buds that give you a buzz far beyond anyother. It's quit amazing!!! really give it a try

you dont HAVE to germinate.. but you will get alot higher success rates with germination

imho, it's best not to touch the seedlings so avoiding germination is preferred. i have never had anything but success.

would it work if I germinated some seeds then put them into a cup and had a 2ft cool white tube above it. Would that start a small plant? Then I would plant outside after it was a few inches tall.

If the cup had soil in it, and the tub was more opaque/clear than white. It would work, but you'd need an intense light source since you have this 2ft clearance above your plants.
In reality you don' treally need the white tub or any of that, just some light and some water and soil. Marijuana isn't so wholly dependent on humidity as lets say salvia is.

i agree. you could get away with putting them straight into the soil outside. a major consideration with starting inside and moving outside is that the light outside is much more intense than what you'll probably have inside. the result is often that seedlings moved outside will scorch and die. they will either need to be started outside or slowly acclimated to the outside light before leaving them alone. if it was me, i'd germinate in soil and move them outdoors as soon as they break the surface.

yea ive always heard that when you start a seedling indoor its good to take it outside for about 4 hours a day for like a week so that the plant can get used to the outside conditions

I am just using bag seeds from mid-grade pot, if I use decent soil outside and remove the males would it be possible to get decent enough pot to smoke? I mainly just want to use it for hash or cook with it, but it would be cool if the bud was good enough to smoke.

yea.. just follow my instructions.. u don't have to follow them to the EXACT detail.. but if you generally do what i said.. you should have some pretty nice smokeable buds..
what i do put emphasis on is the digging a hole and filling it up with store-bought potting soil so that the fertilizer will help boost the little seedling.

good idea! if i were going to grow outdoors, i'd go even further and use a large (5 gallon) bucket with lots of holes in it, filled with potting soil and buried to the rim in the soil outdoors. but that's lots more work and can make the plants much more easy to find.

Don't forget a small fence ( if possible ) or something like garlic spray to keep animals from eating the plants when they are small ( up to a couple feet tall ) I live out in the country and I've always got problems with critters eating up my plants, at least until they get a little bigger. It's the worse to find out that all your seedlings are gone because some rabbit or mouse decided to make them dinner!

i threw mine in some uncovered soil outside to let nature do its work last year. they germinated, but then died because of the stupid heat wave we had here... grrr
