What are the species that can be found in NSW, particularly the pine forests around Canberra?
I was only aware of subs
are there different pine tree's that the subs favor?
I'd like for my second hunt to be successful =)

Muscarias grow all around canberra esp. under introduced trees. They are quite common.

Quick Question for all the NSW/ACT hunters out there,
Have you ever been hunting and come across Park Rangers?
or even funnier have you ever been hunting and smoking a J, then come across another group of people doing the same? last yeah when i hit up the mountains i ran into a group of people and we both sketched out at the site of each other was hilarious.

Yeah four days ago i was hunting in a new spot and i saw two other guys crouching while slowly scanning the ground. i was doing the same thing maybe 5 metres away from them. We both look up at each other and i smiled then started laughing out land, and so did they It was so obvious what we were doing so there was nothing to do but laugh. I then had a chat to them about whether they had been successful in finding any that day Nice people

Hi guys,
First Hunt, Sydney area. not so successful but took some pics. Left the mushrooms in the ground.
Can someone help me ID these please?
First picture was found in my lawn - there are heaps everywhere after the last few days of rain
The remainder of the pictures are from a parklands/damp area nearby. All were growing in soil, surrounded by grass.
Note that pictures 4-7 are of the same mushroom, which was substantially bigger than the rest. The diameter of the cap was about 7 or 8 cm

Sorry can't help cos I'm also new, but at least we know there's lots of specimens around growing... That big one in pics 4-7, did that just pop up since the recent bout of rains, or does something like that take a lot longer to get that big? Looks poisonous though lol.

@ Atrophy
1. Coprinellus Sp. - Not 100% certain tho due to age/decay 2,3. Amanita grisella (I think, same as above) 4 - 7. Agaricus Sp.

Anyone wanting an ID should start their own thread. You will have more people see it that way and end up with a better ID. Also provide as much information as possible, including pics of the underside. It makes an ID much easier.
@marcos: 1. Phaeomarasmius (or maybe Flammulaster) - cool mushroom! 2. maybe Lactarius or Clitocybe 3,4,8. Russula sp. 6-7. maybe Agrocybe 9. Mycena sp. 10. Clavulina cinerea
@Atrophy: 1. ? 2-3. did it have gills or pores? 4-7. Agaricus sp.
