I was waking around today and saw a mushroom with a completely blue top. Could it have been a sub? Will post pictures soon

I dont think so... but maybe it could be..
Was it in the open? if so, the sun could of bleeched the cap, then it could of bruised somehow.
The cap shouldnt blue all over, but insted in little spots where dammaged, and around the cap edge
Post some pics man

I didn't think it was as well but just wanted to make sure. I'm so new at this. Been trying to find out what every mushroom is so I know what I'm looking at. Unfortunately have still not seen one sub

Sydney, out west around Bankstown area. There are some local parks around me but I've only seen a heap of red caps there and nothing else. Went for a walk around Lane Cove for a bit and couldn't find anything. Whole bunch of other mushrooms but no subs.

Yeah I think I might wait for some rain and then go searching again. I did see something that resembled the little dry ones on the piece of wood:

But thought it may have been dry old red caps.

i've been finding a lot of these guys too. Its hard to tell in the dry state between strophs and subs. I'm concerned about the gill colour. Little too rusty coloured for subs I think.

Canberra Mushrooms? [Re: ouijah]

yeah, i know I've already asked this. But me never going mushroom hunting was kinda of a lie. I've have gone hunting, with my father. Back in Central Victoria. But never in Canberra. Although, that was many years ago. So, where should i look for mushrooms? I've moved here about a year ago, and my dad was telling me about in the 60's, he and his dad, and his grandfather would go out around 10 minutes from his house, and find field after field of mushrooms. Sadly, My Grandfather and my Great-Grandfather are long dead. And most of their knowledge about hunting mushrooms was lost when they died, and my father remembers barely anything. And anything he remembers is solely about Central Victorian Mushrooms. Anyway, the point is, I'd like to restart the family tradition, but where should i start looking for mushrooms? Brindabella ranges, Yass way, Tuggers?

What are you looking for? Edibles? If so: Lactarius Deliciosus? That's the most common edible i know of. Look in pine forests, unfortunately Canberra lost a lot of its pine plantations after the fires though. So don't worry about the mouintains, try kowen, majura, the one behind isaacs, or the new one along the parkway. Theres shit loads of pine plantations around Canberra, im sure they all have Lactarius Deliciosus.

Went out hunting, first time, found something. Haven't got a spore print because i didn't want to take away the only fruiting body. Flat top, tinged orange, frill around stalk, white gills, found in Mulch like conditions on Mount Stomlo Act, found in shade and the surrounding area was very wet. Gills looked free. ~50mm cap diameter.

Sorry about the camera work.Iit was with an i-phone and I was pretty excited. I think it could be a death cap. I'm around 90% sure it isn't a death cap, so yeah, any ideas? Oops, sorry, i meant 50%.

Wasn't going to eat it anyway :P. Oh yea, i am looking for edibles, but if i find Active species they would be purely for identification purposes. Thanks for your help, really appreciate it. Oh yes, when looking for Mushrooms under pine tree's, do i look in the needle beds, near the base of the trunk, where the grass meet's the need's. Also, what sort of Active, and non-active species can i find there?
