tough decision...
    #1411100 - 03/26/03 10:34 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

OK, I got an email from a friend in the Netherlands who has a 6"x12" casing of creepers from BRF cased with straight coir. Within the past 2 days about 20 to 30 pins have developed on the colonized casing layer. Ony problem is...he checked the bottom to make sure there weren't any hidden contams and he finds 30, maybe more pins developing there! What should he do??? The entire bed is very fragile and loose, flipping it may cause harm but there are more pins on the bottom and he says they may be 12 hours or so ahead of the ones on top. Everything is still small, about a centimeter max on the bottom....anyone have any suggestions? Much thanks guys.

Being very careful with your casing, somehow pick all of the pins that have developed on the bottom. They can grow like up to 3" IME, but they can also die, rot and invite contaminants.

Could he somehow prop the casing up sideways so they can grow from top and bottom? I'd try that, but what do i know

I'm stoned . Yeah, that would be very cool to prop it up and have over two times the surface area. Maybe with a moist verm layer on the top (previously side).
