Never trip again

I won't be eating shrooms after my Jan. Experience. It was a amazing trip and I know a lot of people feel that shrooms are a eye opener to the truth and the way you really feel but I can honestly say they only made me crazy for the time I was high. The visuals were amazing to me. The room was morphing & breathing, the cat I was with turned purple, and everything melted into colors and tracers at the peak. All so amazing but I mean is it worth it? I laughed so damn hard and for so long my throat hurt for a week after that. I felt like I could do anything and I wanted to fuck everything. I imagined the scariest possible thing I could and I laughed at it and wanted to fuck it too. I felt like throwing up the entire trip and I thought it was hilarious. I almost did at one point and It came up in my mouth and I fuckin swallowed it. For some reason I found it amusing. You can't tell me any part of that trip was inspiring on a intellectual level. I was by myself during all of this and somehow still had enough sense to not let myself outside or near sharp objects. I tried to give myself time so I might want to try shrooms again but it's been 2 months and I still don't want anything to do with mushrooms. I had the best trip anyone could possibly hope for but I'm not seeing the mind enlightening side of it that other people feel

I didn't have an amazing insightful time the first time I tried acid, just a really tense neck that lasted several hours and some mild visuals, but like you I was aware that there is a more meaningful use of psychedelics, so I tried it again. That's when I had my "A-ha!" moment and it all just clicked.
First time I tried shrooms was another story, it was completely enlightening. Psychedelics can be whatever you want them to be, and quite frankly if you enjoyed your experience I don't any reasons against giving it another shot, maybe it'll click for you this time .

Well you see heres the thing. There are literally dozens of different kinds of psychedelic mushrooms. All produce a different trip in a different way. "Set and setting" are also variables.
I know I personally have had mushrooms that gave me the sillies, then I got a different kind and it was total deep introspection, other times total deep outrospection, and many other kinds have produced effects such as
-social enjoyment -paranoia -brilliant visuals -dull visuals -happiness -empathy -body buzz -complete lack of a body buzz
now mushrooms are supposed to produce all of these effects but different subspecies of mushroom have different emphasis on different qualities whether positive or negative.
If you are looking for the introspective journey into the psyche you need to go out and try every mushroom you can. I know I tried mushrooms a couple of times when I first started using psychedelics and I only got the giggles but then I got these very very powerful mushrooms that gave me the total journey, mind fuck, universal understanding, total full on life changing experience.
Don't give up hope. If you want the introspective trip you just gotta find the right mushrooms. Psilocybe Atlantis always give me the universal journey through reality and the mind.

"To know the face of God is to know madness."
Every trip is different, just as every psychedelic is different.
Personally, I've found DMT/ayahuasca to be the most enlightening, but this stuff isn't for the novice tripper.
For me, mushrooms have always been the most emotional of the psychedelics. I can't say that they've ever provided me with much insight into the nature of my perception and environment as ayahuasca has (though they definitely have the potential IMO), but they've given me profound insight into my emotions and personality.
Every trip is different. Give it another try.
If you're looking for something more "intellectually stimulating", look into LSD and DMT. Dissociatives may interest you as well (DXM, Ketamine), but they have the potential to be extremely damaging, and should only be used in a responsible, infrequent manner. Each substance is different, and each provides me with a different quality of insight. Personally, I've found mushrooms to be more grounded and less "transcendent" (not to say they don't feel transcendent) than their cousins.
Just remember, everyone reacts differently to psychedelics. Be smart, do some research. Take it in the proper environment and mindset.
Most importantly, don't set any expectations. Stay in the moment. Take the trip as it is. You may find that the mushrooms provided you with more insight than you initially thought, just not the kind of insight that you expected.
Best of luck, happy tripping!

i find every psychedelic ridiculously enlightening when im on it, ill never understand how some people don't find them that way. however, when the trip wears off and i return to how i was before is when i question whether its really enlightening. dont get me wrong, i thinkt he states they induce are really enlightening but the value is limited if it doesnt last.

If you want "insightful" experiences, then you need to have that state of mind. If you want to know something, think of it before dosing, and then ask the mushrooms to show you. Sounds a little hippy, but I 've done it and it works for me. I find that the bigger the dose I take, when I take it right, the easier it is to have a"meaningful" experience. Granted, whether they are "bad trips" or great ones, they all have meaning to me. I have had several inpleasurable (<- is that even a word?) experiences, but I haven't stopped taking them. Just take a longer break and then see if it holds appeal. If not, then they weren't meant for you.
Good luck.

No you didn't. You had A trip, it was cool and fun but it was not the best. Your statement is contradictory.

Sounds to me like you weren't in the "ideal" state of mind to ingest a psychedelic substance.
If you are unable to "let go" during the experience, it can definitely become overwhelming.
I would take a break after this experience and reevaluate my current state of mind. Make some improvements, go learn something, exercise, etc. (to improve your mind and body). Also reevaluate why you feel that you took the substance in the first place. Maybe you were only hoping for visualizations.
There's no rush, but I think if you take these steps you will find yourself (in a few months time) wanting to take the plunge again.

Every trip is different: set, setting, drug. I've had plenty of trips that weren't insightful. It's all about your mindset and what you want out of the trip. Sometimes you don't even know what your real mindset Is like before the trip and that effects it. Maybe try some LSD next time I always hav an insightful spiritual trip from it but I prepare myself before it. Not every trips going to be how you want it some are mellow some bad some are trainwrecks some change your life etc.

Be careful what you wish for. "Life changing experience" does not necessarily infer a change for the positive.
I haven't tripped in over a year, I had a series of 'challenging' trips based around the nature of time. Anyone who has experienced severe time dilation/cessation knows what I'm talking about.
I have previously had a 5-6 year break from shrooms/psychs in general due to a hectic work schedule and lack of interest. I don't think 2 months is very long at all, in fact I would probably recommend people don't do them any more frequently than that for an extended time.

While this is true enough, the same batch of shrooms can induce wildly varying experiences in an individual. I reckon OP needed to eat a few more and break through the silliness into 'hyperspace'. It's kinda sad but I never laugh or get the giggles on shrooms, all my trips are pretty deep.

Yeah that doesn't even really sound like a very good trip to me. Different shrooms produce different effects for me, you could give some different ones a try. You should also dial down your dosage imo.

Try LSD, a much more cleaner, more intellectual, and it doesn't make you go primitive like shrooms do.

Maybe you took too much? Sounds pretty... "heavy".

May I suggest taking a small dose and relaxing and taking it easy?
You do not have to take large quantities of magic mushrooms, just take very little and get mellow man/woman.
i.e. my friend uses 10 x liberty caps and has a very pleasant awe inspiring feeling for 3hours or so.
No need to drop in at the deep end and mellow doses can give you a chance to digest the riches more easily.

The first time I ate some shrooms, which also was my first time tripping, I was laughing my ass off the entire time, it was ridiculous. I only felt mildly nauseous at first, but I'm glad I didn't experience it to the point some do.

I never said anything about having a bad trip. I said It wasn't enlightening. Just mind blowing laughter and colors. I said I had the best possible trip but I want a deep trip. I want to get high and enjoy the beatles and zeppelin Not lay on the couch and laugh at the ceiling for hours at a time.
