Anything under 14 days is normal and common.

yea, wait a lil longer. Not sure about the black lite though, heard some bad things about it. Maybe you should wait until you see mycellium poking thru the top layer and then cold shock those bitches.

They'll pin and fruit under UV but they will develop genetic damage that will show up several generations down the line. If you're not printing and you just grow from purchased syringes, UV light will work, I suppose, since you will not be propagating the genetic line.

I'm curious though, why a blacklight? Stealth?

it's a probably little late now, but it's best to incubate a casing for a few days .
mycelium needs to recover after the cake is crumbled, and it takes a little longer in fruiting conditions .
hang in there, fan 3-4 times a day . it should pin soon .
and, i agree, a 10 degree drop in temp should be enough to stimulate pinning .no need to cold shock cubes . all that does is slow growth .

Only drop the temps if you want to coldshock. You can coldshock by putting it in the fridge for 24 hours but make sure to cover it up good first.

No they are talking about cold shocking. And you do it for a 24(around there) hour period not indefenitely.

My friend covers his casings with foil to keep the carbon dioxide level up and incubates them for a couple of days at 85F to allow the mycelium to recover. Then he uncovers them to drop the carbon dioxide and increase the oxygen levels, and he puts them in a fruiting chamber at 75F. This is what people mean when they say that you should drop the temperature 10 degrees (from 85F to 75F).

Sometimes, this 10 degree drop isn't enough to encourage the mycelium to start pinning. In this case, some people cold-shock the casing by covering it with foil and sticking it in a refrigerator for a day or so, then into the fruiting chamber. This is what people mean when they talk about cold-shocking.
