This is a good era for psychonauts. * 4
    #14102957 - 03/11/11 09:02 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I was chuckling to myself in class earlier as I gazed out my classroom window looming over Downtown Manhattan, still somewhat high, as I pondered on how in this day and age those who seek to explore the oceans of consciousness can easily do so, regardless of the bullshit (and IMHO largely ineffective in regards to personal, individual usage) psychedelic laws we have in place.

Here I am, a 20 year old college student sitting in the same exact classroom as everybody else. But what sets me apart from them, and by extension what sets the rest of you apart from others around you is this: we have seen data that others have not.

I've shot my mind into the furthest ineffable corners of the universe, dwelled in dimethyltryptal dimensions, roamed hyperspace, meandered in the astral, rediscovered purpose amidst an Ayahuascic trance and have come to know the familiar feeling of the lysergic state, as have many of you - those who have communed with and been taught by fungal teachers.

And what makes this era grand specifically is the mere fact that I can, at the click of a button, do research on the substance of interest (it does not matter whether they are sacred shamanic sacraments or long lost inebriants, there is information on all) and by whatever means are laid out before me can ascertain them, and undergo experiences once reserved for a select few (i.e. shamans, ancient spiritually-oriented civilizations) right in the comfort of my living room. Amanita Muscaria, the sacred Soma they say? As easy to get as a bag of Doritos at a store. Ayahuasca? Oh lookie, an endless array of analogues and other methods, any I can choose from... hmmmmm...

I personally believe that all explorers of consciousness in this day and age, modern psychonauts and neo-shamans are the reincarnations of those who had done so in the past and wished only to further explore the grand mystery and seek further.

Ever read those crazy reports on Erowid? You know the ones I'm talking about; Mescaline + Psilocybin + Acid + DMT or Salvia + Amanita + Ayahuasca, et al. Those of the past were usually limited to what was available in the surrounding area, in their tribe, etc. Not these days. These days we are truly going above and beyond and I'm damn sure the ancestors smile upon us each and every time we dive into those intangible oceans where they have never traversed.

Let the good times roll :awecid:

That is exactly how I felt after my first trip, sitting in class and everything. Not in a way that I looked down on others who hadn't done that, but I almost wished everyone could experience that type of enlightenment. I know that will never happen, and for good reason, because I don't think a large portion of the population is of the right mind makeup to use psychedelics.

Erowid is the closest thing to a bible as I'll ever use; I research each and every chemical extensively before I ingest them. We are very fortunate to have resources like that to help us be prepared, knowledgeable, and responsible drug users. Too bad generations before us didn't have the same benefits, perhaps the drug policies would be different.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think this really speaks to the era of the internet more than anything.

Information is a hell of a drug.

My first amazing "real" trip with ego death, showed me things I did not even think possible. I heard colors and saw sound and music and it was the most amazing night of my life. And the hardest part was knowing no one I cared about could experience it like that. :frown:

For sure. If one assumes that knowledge is power than so many, many people are empowered these days. There was once a time when the only source of news you'd get was very.. basic. And now look, we have AboveTopSecret.com, Wikipedia/leaks, etc.

I wholeheartedly agree with you both. I don't look down upon the multitudes who have and may never undergo these experiences, I just sorely wish that they could have experienced what I had  A good entheogenic spirit cleansing would do worlds of good for so many people.

I remember a saying... "Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water." You know how far jaws of the ancient shamans or Buddha himself would drop if they lived today, logged onto a site such as this or the DMT-Nexus and see how many people are espousing the belief that we are all individuated aspects of one consciousness experiencing Itself subjectively? THIS WAS NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE PEOPLE HAD BACK THEN! Yet here we are, with many, MANY people further developing upon and expanding on this ancient metaphysical knowledge. Enlightenment is the not the be-all, end-all to everything, but it certainly does make one see life in a completely new way. I look towards the metaphysical side of things now as opposed to the physical which many still do. If only they knew...

The question is, has the psychedelic experience changed who you are as a human being, or have you remained relatively the same?

Totally changed me.
Shown me a whole new side of things.
Once you do a high enough dose I don't think you can ever be the same.

Completely fucking deleted my old harddrive and uploaded a new one.

I used to be a fairly introverted, cold, reclusive and misanthropic kid and very much shunned the rest of the world. Now however, I have relearned forgiveness, to be humble, to see all as one, etc.

Psychedelics are the greatest thing I have ever come across. (DMT especially :psychsplit:)

I have been thinking this for quite some time. Ever since I bought my first spore syringe, I realized what they meant when people would say that psychadellics are everywhere, you just have let them in.

Thanks for putting into words, what I could not.

No problem dude. And this is what I mean. See how easily one can just grow these mystic allies and delve into a world that remains unknown to so many? I used to dwell on why I am alive and aware and perceiving this reality in this age... and it makes so much fucking sense. This is the era where we can truly realize ourselves and live to the best of our abilities. People's imaginations are being manifested into reality (movies), the world of music is expanding so much...

I really am anxious about the upcoming soul Harvest and Ascension. I can't wait!

True. And the best part is that today all those shamans and medicine men can keep in touch with each other, no matter where they live. But do not forget that the substance is just a key: we do not know more than them. The place where we all meet is always the same.
