I found some rye berries at a store by me and they go for $1.39 a lb US. I was just wondering if this was an average price?

That is pretty high. whole foods around me sell for a buck a pound. Find a livestock feed store(ask for winter rye, and you can get it for 50 cents or less a pound.

He is right but not all of us can get our rye from feed store due to location etc
Ozzy you lucky shit I remember the days when I could just go to the feed store and be like hey give me 50 lbs of rye grain and they didnt even take a second glance at me, now that I moved Im stuck with paying whole foods price but its better then having it shipped, plus every feed store i go to down here the people look at me like im a god damn nut and they only have barley
So as for supermarket price of rye I would say thats right in the ball park

hmm..They might. most times it comes in bulk(56lbs) , but figure this... you'll pay about 15 bucks for 10 lbs at the whole food store, while for 5 extra bucks you can get 50 and be set for a while.
There might be feed store that dosen't carry it pre bagged, but you'll be searching for that store for a while I think.
Either way, if the 1.39 dosen't shock you for now, then go for it.
Edit: I live in a big city? look harder if you think you don't have feed store within an hour of your location. Every state has livestock and grains to feed them.

Ok ill call a couple places and see what they say...
and the way i look at it if i have to spend more in gas ($3.65 a gallon here) than what I would save then I'll just go with the whole foods store...
