noob question about incubation chamber

I just found an old electric blanket and I am wondering if it could be useful in an incubator. I folded it and placed it in a large plastic tub. I placed a digital thermometer on it, closed the lid and left it on high for a few hours. I just checked it and it showed a temp of 81 F. From what I have read that is about perfect for mycelium growth. However I am wondering if it would a bad idea to place PF jars directly on the blanket. Would this dried out the jars too quickly?

Colonize jars at normal room temperature. The whole idea of incubators is bunk, outdated, and dumb. High temperatures stimulate bacteria and thermophilic molds much more than mushroom mycelium. RR

Hey RR, do you think it would be a bad idea to use an electric blanket with liquid culture jars? If they are sealed and sterilized then there should not be any bacteria or thermophilic molds?

The problem is nothing is 100% sterile. Thermophilic molds can survive the PC. By raising the temps you are giving them a foothold and a chance to make a come back. Once fully colonized your chances of that happening are way less.
