rebuttal? straw man? i never intended to argue about this. i'm just saying wikipedia sometimes presents opinion as fact in an encyclopedia setting misleading people.

No, if you make sure all your information is cited to reputable sources, there's absolutly nothing wrong with wikipedia.

That citation that was linked is to a paper written by several Ph.Ds

personally i think the most logical solution is solar, the key to its success is the human race realizing how stupid it is.  We need population caps, after that our problems go away.  Were trying to power 2 many people, 2 many things, thats the problem, we just keep walking closer and closer to the end of the road.

obviously people have it stuck in there head that nuclear is the path to freedom and enlightenment, the problem is just because your body glows in the dark doesn't make u enlightened.  If nuclear energy was worthwhile they wouldn't be building them so quickly when they obviously have problems that need looked into.  The problem as always hinges on money, people want "profits", not research.  They figuer we can just learn from our mistakes like everything else humans do, monkey see monkey do thats how humans and science works. we sit around and watch these corrupt buisnesses fuck our land over in the name of profit while they tell us how safe and important there product is.  In the end its like smoking, except its being forced on you.

People should learn how to use hydrogen.

Either invest energy in splitting water into H2 and O2, separate them and fuse the hydrogen into helium. If you do the maths there is a lot to be gained. But you need some special isotopes that makes it trickier. And its generally hard to do anyway.

Or use biology and engineer algae/bacteria that use light energy to split water and release H2 gas. Then use that gas as a fuel.

Also engineer bacteria to produce various plastics. Its not that hard once the host has been modified.

you asked for links not proof. prove it to yourself if you're interested enough. apparently they've worked on an engine that returns more than put in. and the rodin coil is supposed to be used in antenna technology by the US. there's something amazing there. if i can find a way to get you all the pdfs i have i will. i need more money to invest in my own electrical experimentation though to really try this stuff out. it's a relatively new field of study.

Try stopping all cash flow towards the nuclear energy and see how the safety record of that industry develops. I've seen it happen up-close and personal, and the only thing I can say is, "that's not too smart".

we should shut them down with the money they're supposed to keep on hand to decommission. it's a ridiculous industry.

6.7 according to CNN, but I guess we'll have to wait a bit for conclusive figures. At first glance, that shouldn't fuck things up too badly any further. Let's hope everything holds...

For Fukushima, that should present no problem. I just hope that the emergency core cooling systems and the contaminated water tanks will prove resistant to a quake of this magnitude.

It'd be :awesome: if a massive fissure opened up right under Fukushima during an earthquake dumping the cores and their contents hundreds of feet underground :highdog:

or how awesome would it be if a volcano erupted right under them and shot the reactors into the sky and caused a worldwide nuclear winter:snowman:

Nuclear winters are caused by the huge amount of dust released into the atmosphere by the nuclear weapon detonations
