Unkown pufball species?
    #14096369 - 03/10/11 04:23 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Habitat:
Growing in the soil and through an area of Eucalyptus duff and other mixed bushes and tress.

Gills:
No gills.

Stem:
No stem, but remnants of roots.

Cap:
No cap.
Mushroom width = about 2 "

Spore print color:
Seems to be grey

Bruising:
No bruising

Other information:

Scent of the mushroom: Pleasant, mushroom-like.

The flesh feels really firm and dense.
Skin is made up of what looks like "soccer ball" like divisions.
Once cut open, various colored areas become present, which surround a grey-ish brain like center which has gelatinous-like veins running through them.

I think Clathrus ruber, or possibly another stinker, not a puffball.

Awwww - It's a cute little stinker huh?

As in a "disgusting egg-stage undeveloped Stinkhorn" cute kinda way...

Hard to believe it is edible in this stage, but the books say so.

Nasty old stinkhorn thang...

BLECH !!!
