Yea I would imagine certain music could freak you out for sure. I personally don't like any music while tripping..

Music doesn't tend to mess with me when I'm tripping. The pace, tempo, or harshness (for lack of a better word) don't really effect my trip at all.
There have been times while adventuring that I've realized that the lyrics to music are no longer in English, or sound like distant beings chanting to the song I chose being played backwards. Usually this freak out only lasts for a split second until I re-realize that I'm .
One time, while tripping with a few friends, they had the TV on while music was playing in the background. The sounds of the TV were combating the sounds of the stereo and this made me extremely uncomfortable.

A few weeks ago durng the peak of a VERY hard trip I turned on some random shpongle track, and the insane flurry of percussion gave me crazy geometric visuals and was essentially a sensory overload that happened in a nanosecond flat. I was tripping too hard to deal with that haha so I had to turn it off.

Did you listen to the video I posted in the OP? Television sounds nor Shpongle are anywhere near the level of 'grind-your-mind-to-sawdust'-ness of that song. You will know the true meaning of 'insane flurry of percussion', my friend.

I have had the tempo of slow songs warp time for me before. For example I was listening to a really slow song and started feeling like everything was moving in slow motion including my talking movement and reaction times. It only lasted for a minute or so but it felt like a week. It was scary as hell.

Ha, Once upon a time, long ago, when I was a newbie and didn't really know what I was doing, I took two hits of acid and when I peaked I listened to the Doors song, the end on repeat for the next five hours. It freaked me out a bit at the time. Man, those were the good days.

It was about 5 years back, tripping on some mushrooms that I'd grown from a kit online. I was watching MTV when "In Da Club" by 50 Cent came on. Most of the song was a blur, but parts of it pierced through the blurriness of my audio reception. Parts of the chorus, and most of the non music related sound effects. It kind of made me uncomfortable, as most of the trip that night was anyways. I get very selective hearing when I am tripping and listening to music.

Yeah, Echos - Pink Floyd, one time when I did 39 grams fresh cyans lemon tek. Echos started to weird me out just about the time the streetlights turned deep green.
Everything turned out great though.

I think heavy metal is awesome while tripping, including Black/Death Metal. I have listened to it while tripping and I think it's awesome.

There is certain music that I don't like sober. This feeling of dislike is usually amplified while i'm tripping.

Shpongle has definitely pulled me into another realm for a few hours.
Oddly enough, when I was tripping on mescaline for the first and only time, we were listening to Jimi Hendrix, and I had to turn it after a few songs because I was getting a really heavy misogynistic vibe from good ole' Jimi. I'm very light-hearted, easy-going, and when I see/hear people being misogynists, I usually joke along with them or can at least laugh at it. But for whatever reason some of Jimi's songs really made me feel uncomfortable....
Also to note from that trip, I couldn't stare at my friend's paintings because I was seeing way too much of his karma on the wall.
The first time I tripped on acid, my friends were listening to TOOL (this was before I became an avid listener), and I remember thinking, "How can you listen to this dark shit right now?" It didn't freak me out or anything, I just thought it was an odd musical selection. I have since spent whole trips in the dark with TOOL....
But I still can't imagine listening to death/hate metal on psychedelics.

I don't tend to listen to music because the first thing to go is my hearing. Long before the visuals start all auditory input starts to sound like a skipping CD. Chunks of sound between 1 and 5 seconds long get distorted, inverted, even deleted by the time they hit my brain. Music just becomes the white noise soundtrack to my own private Idaho.
I can imagine that if a body didn't understand or accept or embrace what was happening that music could become a major problem, especially if a body's expectations were high and inflexible.

On an oral DMT trip, a song ended in an explosion and screaming. This went on for a minute and when it ended, my living room ceiling seemed to rip open and FUCKING God's presence and aura filled the room. It was heavy, just what you'd imagine. I had never felt anything like that in my life, considering I am an agnostic. Anyway, I said, "The Bible is true? Get the fuck out of here!!!" My itunes was on random and some crazy heavy metal song came on and it was God speaking through it to me, screaming at me. I said, "Fuck you!!!"
I said Fuck You to God. At the time I was convinced it was Him. I got balls of steel.
I promptly called my mom and she talked some sense back into me. I'm still agnostic.

Sunset-Mission, that song is too intense. I wouldn't dare subject myself to that type of madness during a trip. It's fucking torture. I can listen to Type O Negative, Clutch, Monster Magnet, and shit with balls and swagger, but Deathspell Omega + psychedelic drugs is asking for all sorts of everlasting trouble.

I dig it from an aesthetic and musical perspective. It sounds like uncontrolled chaos but listening to it tripping allows me to hear every note and how perfectly crafted it is..., and quite frankly the riffs and overall composition of the song boggle my mind. Whoever wrote this song is probably insane, and nobody should be able to play this... yet listening to it it dawns on me that someone is in fact playing this song, somewhere. Plus I personally just love to experience the extremes of what this world has to offer.
Admittedly while Deathspell Omega don't freak me out, there have been brief times when I was slightly afraid to listen to them because I'd thought I'd inadvertently sold my soul to Satan while listening to it tripped out.

Yeah man it took me quite a few listens to this song/that album in general to actually get WTF was going on and not just "what in the name of fuck did I just hear " and become a writhing traumatized puddle of ooze. It's the transition from the intro to the unexpected chaos that hammers my mind.

I used to love listening to metal on acid.
But on shrooms I get annoyed about music very easily. I either won't listen to any music, or I'll listen to something really chilled out.

It's okay if you can't comprehend what's going on in that song, it takes a certain ear and concentration to appreciate it. It's not Top 40 casual listening material in the slightest and not something an individual who is used to more accessible music would 'get' immediately.
Song does not suck though U DO

The first time I tripped I was listening to Jethro Tull in a dark room when I started hearing voices from inside the radio that were definately not part of the song. I got real close and peered through the speaker. Inside my radio I saw people having a picnic in the park. There was a dog running around and people throwing a frisbee. I could hear everything as if I was in there with them. I never experienced anything like that again even though I have tripped many times since then with larger doses.
I don't remember what the exact song was, but it was from the "Thick as a Brick" album.

I've been into extreme metal all of my adult life and it's so ingrained into who I am it really doesn't give me any bad vibes while tripping.
Parts of Pink Floyd - The Wall had me feeling really depressed and down while listening to it on a high dose of mushrooms.
Music doesn't "scare" me, but if the underlying message or overall tone of the song is depressive then it can really bring my mood down with it.

Yeah, I have. My first ever acid trip on 3 and a half tabs my friend and I had set up classical music in the background. My friend insisted on keeping the classical music because he was having a bit of a bad trip, and changing anything would have been bad news for him.
Anyways, to me the music sounded like an eerily tinkling piano, and was really freaking me out. I think that this was mostly due to how speedy the acid made me, the music just wasn't fast enough. I eventually put on my headphones and listened to 1200 micrograms (really fast electronic music if you don't know them) and everything cleared up and I had an awesome time.

I feel you on that, music invokes some heavy emotions from me in immensities that I normally don't show usually. I don't mind ultra-technical or brutal or just sheer evil sounding tunes when tripping but if I throw on depressive black metal/funeral doom/certain jazz I'll be feeling pretty

Try to listen this when you're tripping:
Check out the 'band' Stalaggh when you're interested in more.
I usually listen to psychedelic-oriented music, like Shpongle, Younger Brother and different kinds of GOA/psy-trance. It seems to be perfect music to trip on and it's the music that brought me into contact with tripping.

I'll check those links when I get home, and awwww dude I'm very well aware of Stalaagh. They allegedly locked a shitload of skitzos and other mental patients in a warehouse and let them loose to destroy everything. The vocals they make are so fucking.. discomforting. And the music too makes the Silent Hill soundtrack pale in comparison.
I think you've won. I don't think I'd ever be able to listen to Stalaagh and still be

Stalaggh really isn't "music" though, it's just the sound of thick static, random screaming, and what sounds like pots and pans banging around.
I could see what they were trying to do, but honestly they kind of failed in making a scary atmosphere and the end result is just annoying.
A similar release thats actually a bit musical is "Abruptum- In Umbra..." I'm personally not a huge fan of the style but it's definatly a step above stalaggh.

Yeah music is always honestly me great unifier. I almost cant even imagine tripping without. But it makes sense consider how much I love music and making music and just all aspects of it.

There's been a couple times where music has honestly freaked me out. Pink Floyd's Time upsets me, because it reminds me that we're so limited here. Hell, I've already used up about a third of my life, as I'm sure most people here have.
Esham's album Tongues doesn't sit right with me either, he raps about some fucked up shit on that album and some of it I can relate to. I try not to listen to it unless I'm feeling really dark.

Hell the fuck yes it does
The song "Aphelion" from my first album, the Vagrant Starscape remix? That was my single favorite dexing song ever, that song + 3P doses + 12AM wandeirng around this vacant parking lot near me + blunt at peak = me battling the dexgods (i.e. the huge gorilla/elephant hyrbid gods marching towards me with fangs bared, which in reality was a HUGE elm tree overlooking the lot)

One time my buddy and I ate like an eighth of mush a piece, and we were sitting in my spare room where I have my Xbox hooked up to a projector on the wall.
Now we are tripping hard, playing this ping pong game where the more you hit it back and forth the darker the arena gets and the camera's get all close to the ping pong table,
While all this is going on we are listening to one of the Gorillaz albums and it's the one where the guy is like "Hellooooo.......is anybody out there? helloooooo"
haha and both of us looked at each other and were like

Exactly! Man you saw me bug the fuck out to Front Line Assembly, Angelfish and Depeche Mode, but it certainly didn't make me "freak out" or send my trip into a bad direction at all.
By the way I can't really seem to be finding those albums you asked me to check out, no results on soulseek
Hey if anybody on the Shroomery has or can find music by the band Isa and the Filthy Tongues, the albums Addiction and Dark Passenger me and my brother awakendone would certainly appreciate it!!

Haha, WOW. My trip wasn't that crazy. I had an OBE and slight CVEs, but nothing that crazy! I'm thinking 2 bottles of Robitussin isn't enough for a 210 lb, tall male.
Also, about the Isa And The Filthy Tongues, I've only seen New Town Killers. Sorry.

Blasting Ulcerate's The Destroyers of All on anything is probably the closest I can get to freaking out, but I love every second of the madness. The slower, ambient and dissonant sections are fucking mindblowing.

A few times...
Once on a heady dose of L I was listening to a metalish song I liked completely in the dark, and then all of a sudden it just got too much for me what might be out there. I couldn't handle the paranoia, it felt like the music was cutting my ability to hear at all, was absolutely terrifying and after that I couldn't even walk around my house fearing that somebody might be down the hallway or something. It was pretty heavy.
On a recent trip my trip buddy who I take everything with was going through a rough patch of his life and had little care for the massive dose of L I just consumed. He tried to make me watch a horror movie which I just flat out refused to do, and when we were outside he made me listen to heavy evil sounding metal, until it got to the point where it was physically hurting me from the stress it was putting on me. I can't describe it but I tried laying down elsewhere and covered my ears with pillows and the noise of that metal just followed me wherever I went no matter how far I went away from it.
I had to ask him to shut it off and put some ambient/chilled music on and everything came good again. It definitely tensed up the mood and feel of the trip for me.

I sort of 'freaked out' when a German friend of mine put on some black metal and I went into a sort of trance while stomping around. I felt like a barbarian and wanted a sword and to smash stuff.

This last 4th of July a friend and I dropped a couple hits He let me hear his new devourment cd he just gotIt kinda got to me lolThe singer reminded me of a pig squealing so I have this mental picture of a metal band on stage with a mini mic for a pig to squeal intoI wouldn't say it freaked me out but I couldn't listen to itI have a trip playlist, for when I'm tripping @ homeSome songs will remind me of certain times in my life I really don't want to think about while tripping

I've listened to In An Excruciating Way... hundreds of times while tripping alone, but exposing others to it feels some what irresponsible to me; or rather, I wouldn't want to be responsible for the consequences.
Reminds me of the time my friend's friend tried DXM for the first time and my friend and a few others locked the kid in a room and piped Agoraphobic Nosebleed's Altered States of America in through the vents and shit. They opened the door to him trying to bash his head through the window.

Yeah, it's too bad I found out about that before any other doom metal. As a result I didn't couldn't give a shit about any of the rest.

Dude. Get Transcendence Into The Peripheral by the death/doom band diSEMBOWELMENT. They're my absolute favorite doom metal group ever, and the name of my music project (cerulean transience of all my imagined shores) is taken from the last song off that album (they only made one sadly )

saucerful of secrets be Pink floyd gives me bad vibes when sober and when tripping. But everything else is amazing. When i listen to Shpongle, i usually get transported to a realm of shamanic rituals in a Jungle like atmosphere. So in that sense, music is a must when tripping. It allows your emotions and senses to be put to use completely.

but no, aside from being just totally amazed at how awesome something sounds, i haven't freaked out to any music on psychedelics.

The tick tock at the beginning of Time by Floyd kinda bugged me out but nothing too intense. I don't have the balls to listen to anything "harsh" while tripping.

I only freaked out bad one time. My girlfriend and I were visiting my family and we decided to take 2 hits each of some WoW. It was great acid and my girlfriend and I were sitting in the back yard enjoying the trees. My sisters boyfriend comes up to us and asks us how we are doing (we told him we were dosing earlier in the day), we told him we were feeling great and were going to go for a nature walk in a little bit. He offers to smoke a joint with us before we set off so he sparks it up and sits down at the table.
After we finish it there are about 5 of us sitting down and we hear the slight screech of cop breaks so we look to the road and see the unmistakable gray of a state trooper pass the gap in the houses. As we are looking 3 more pull up and we hear their dogs going berserk. I tell my girlfriend everything is ok and calmly walk in the house. I shove a plate with some weed under my mattress, put the bong in the closet, lit some nag champa and walked back outside. As I sit down I see a cop in the next door neighbors driveway staring around with a stupid look on his face talking on his radio, another cop walks up to him and they go back to their cars and drive away.
My mom came rushing out to see if we were alright (she also knew we had dosed) but at this point I was still shitting bricks and thinking I was going to have a heart attack. The rest of the trip was a little sketchy but we managed to pull out of it a few hours after it happened, just too many thoughts of being face down in handcuffs while tripping balls. About 2 weeks after that my Moms upstairs neighbors got raided for selling heroin, come to find out they had the wrong address when they came that day while tripping.
