Most deathcore is pretty terrible indeed - but like dubstep I find it has its gems... breakdowns can be very effective, if a band has any idea WHERE to place them.
Between the Buried and Me rarely has breakdowns but when they do, its always oh so very appropriate

Okay, well I made this post NOT to emphasize how great dubstep is like ALMOST ALL of the other dubstep threads.
I made this thread to find out if any other people are total dubstep devorees. Who ONLY listens to this shit??? i can't be the only one. A dubstep whore is IMO a person who revels in this genre, be it grime or Brostep or whatever. I am trying to find likeminded individuals that PRIMARILY listen to the 1-2 step.

Not me. I try to listen to as much varied music as I can - that way nothing gets boring. Listen to one genre for a year or two and you'll be aching for something else.

Dubstep is pretty bad. There is good dubstep around, but most of it makes me pretty angry. Just the snare on the 3, awful wobbles and that's it.
The good dubstep is all about vibes and mood, and I rarely see it. I'd say 9 times out of ten, when someone links a dubstep song in the pub, it is awful.

Yeah the predictable drum beats get old... but from a producers perspective... they want their music to be 'danceable' and its quite difficult to spice things up from the old kick-1 snare/clap-3 and still retain that danceable groove... especially when much of your audience is made up of non-musicians/dancers

For me, it makes it worse to think of it from a producers perspective.
Because it's mostly really simplistic and pretty much any retard can make it.
Which I suppose means, generally dubstep isn't for me.
Not to say that there isn't dubstep that is produced really well, there are deep and textured pieces with subtlety and vibes.
Just that it's pretty rare relative to the amount of dubstep there is

Nearly all music when it comes down to it can be made by any retard with a chord sheet and a midi sequencer
I thought it would be much much easier to produce dubstep than I found it to be... It has its challenges too, though of a different nature than most music. You never really know how someone produced a track though... did they take premade loops and just stack them in a sequencer? or did they take a midi keyboard and manually record every lead, bassline, and drum track - while simultaneously adjusting multiple automation parameters and interweaving it with appropriate samples?
When it comes down to it for me - as an art form - It doesn't matter if its easy and simple, or technical and difficult... how good it sounds is all that matters in the end.

Gonna have to disagree with you there, not any retard could create, for example, most of the stuff Omar Rodriguez Lopez creates. His albums are such densely layered and textured tapestries of sound. It would take years and years of experience mixing, playing guitar etc etc
I'd like to see any retard create some of the stuff Aphex Twin has created.
I'm not saying that simple=bad, either. Simplicity has it's place. Most of my own music is in 4/4 with the snare on the 3, I'm just saying that for music to be good, there has to be a balance. And for me, dubstep has been overly simplistic and formulaic far too consistently.
And I can agree with you that gut reaction is the most important aspect of appreciating music, but for me, knowing that someone put a lot of time, effort and thought into creating their music makes it muuuch better.

I don't think I was clear in what I meant
I meant that more or less any genre can be produced by any ol' retard, as witnessed by the overwhelming ratio of mediocre music to fantastic music in any genre. Its easy to take a look at the stereotyped organizational structures, chord progressions, and beats of a particular genre - pull a few out of the books throw it together and call it a rock song, jazz song, classical piece, etc. But it takes feeling, and a deeper level of understanding to compose a truly great work of music.
Of course its easier with some genres than others (progressive metal vs say.. hip hop or dubstep)... but on the other hand most tards don't listen to complex genres they couldn't understand in the first place

Ah when you put the word genre in there, it makes more sense.

I disagree. To be able to write a song in any genre requires at least some knowledge of music, therefore not any idiot could do it.
Rap is the only music I know any idiot could do because it takes all of 2 minutes to create an 8 bar loop that sounds pretty cool.

Very little knowledge though... you know how to play a I-IV-V-I progression you can almost produce every popular genre in the western world. Hell don't even need a chord progression sometimes, just different iterations of the tonic will work.
Again, not saying it'll sound good, just saying you can
