Software programmer. IT professional.
Working for my pops right now in the family business. Was going to school for it but flunked out a while ago. Currently trying to get my CCNA and my BS; just got my AS.
Let's just say I'm underpaid, but this experience is really invaluable.

I'm technically a junior in college; I know a lot of the material, and my dad knows that. I just got my AS from the local community college, but other than that, I do not have any degrees.
I'm currently going for my CCNA accreditation too.

Yeah, it's more about who you know and what experience you have really. That's why I'm stoked to be working this job. I'll walk out of college with my pick of jobs.

I figured that's why you were asking. You should look into taking CCNA classes at a local community college. (If that sounds like something you'd like.)
You could have your certification in about a year and be making very decent pay. (~$40K/year or more.) Plus there's a lot of continuing education opportunities (CCNP and onward) with Cisco if you want to make more money. (CCIEs make $250K+/year.)

Tech Support / Customer Service for a major video card/motherboard company. No school required, just 14+ years of computer experience and showing that I have the knowledge got me the job. The pay is ok, I think it should be a lot more for what I do. But I've only been there 6-7 months.. and make enough to live. The major benefit is I have 100% of health/dental/vision insurance paid by the company, I pay $0 a month for full coverage insurance. And occasionally get free kickdowns on computer gear and access to special events and whatnot.

Actually, yeah. Depending on your community college. You could probably take 99% of it online. They do want you to get some hands-on experience with the equipment, I think. Although I'd say if you can hook the stuff up in a simulation, you can probably figure it out IRL.

Work you ass off, pass go, collect 20000,make a down payment on a house that would turn in a profit once rooms have been rented.
Keep the biggest room to yourself, rent other room, split the basement in rooms if possible.

I do science.
It took a billion years of schooling. I'm paid reltatively accordingly. With the experience and training that I have, most fields would pay more.
-------------------- ...the whole experience is (and is as) a profound piece of knowledge. It is an indellible experience; it is forever known. I have known myself in a way I doubt I would have ever occurred except as it did. Smith, P. Bull. I work for TEK Systems, they contracted me to work in phone support for Boeing. It is an entry level job only making $11/hr.
I have an AS in networking and am working on a BS in security. I really don't have any field experience and would love to do something besides what I'm doing. Hell, I'd take some low level admin or something.

I drive a fork lift at a factory/warehouse that makes/sends out junk mail. 90% of the people I work with are mexicans who speak very little english. The other 10% are felons or fuck ups. My supervisor is a child molester.

thats what I need to find. I almost got a forklift job, passed the drug test, was the only one out of thirty in a group interview to get all the paperwork right and then the background check came through and I was fucked.

I don't even want to participate anymore.
I realize we are being robbed - the whole western world has been taken over by banking cartels and we now live in a oligarchy that controls the majority of the world. This is no conspiracy theory - this is fact - its not hidden. When I realized whats really going on I decided I don't want to support such a system any more because I do not believe it is right. The system is destroying the middle class, the planet and its resources, keeping people in 3rd world starving or dying so that a small percent can gain all the wealth and power. With that power they have chosen to control us by removing all our rights and freedoms and keep us enslaved with a perpetual debt ponzi scheme.
How anyone could want to support that anymore I don't know.
I've taken to learning survival, bush craft, foraging, farming and communes because its the only way to exist without supporting a corrupt system that is destroying everything.

Self employed musician at the moment. I've done some freelance sound work too but I'm still in school. Hopefully after I get out I can find a steady job somewhere not peddling merchandise after I get out. How much I charge depends on the gig and the number of musicians. If its a jazz quartet gig I try to get a bare minimum of $25/hour per musician although its usually better. Other stuff doesn't pay as well usually unless you want to do weddings anymore. Bar gigs are usually for tips and a portion of the bar proceeds anymore which is pretty lame most places around here. I pass on most of those.

i am an announcer / dj / emcee for a national dance competition. i also drive the equipment across the country. i work six months out of the year and am on salary for 40k.
this was entry level, although i went through a production and design based program in high school. one of my best friends had two sisters in the dance world, and it is through them that i got the position.
i love my job and couldn't imagine doing anything else.

i'm having trouble trying to figure out what i want to do.
i feel like if i were making loads of money i might die pretty quick.
but i'm scared. i don't want to live working shit jobs like delivering pizza (which i am now) i'm going back to school and i never had any idea what i was going to do. i might try this ccna thing.
i really just want some kind of stability.
what i really want to do is leave everything behind and go live somewhere warm where i can live off the land. why, oh why, is that asking too much?

Dont we all.
Ive come to the conclusion theres never going to be any stability though. Even if you get shit loads of money the twats who work in the bank still own you. The currency can collapse or hyper inflation so its not really secure unless you use it to buy a fortress and arm that fucker to the teeth.

definitely, i spent the past 15 years chasing paper. Got very good at it but I'm no happier at all. completely reversed my thinking now and im going to live like a hobo in a tent soon. already sold 90% of my possessions. hopefully start a journey of spiritual understanding because the material world has done nothing for me and i unknowingly supported a corrupt system in the process.

i'm all for your plan. when you get through, always remember that the best place to fight the system is from inside it. lord knows this is where we need warriors of the light the most

I'm a welder for a production company that makes aerial platforms/lifts. 15.43/hr to start move up to 18/hr after 3 months (been 7 weeks so far). OT is 22/hr job is easy stuff too - worth it to go back and train more though. Get some certifications on pipe for stick welding and you can make some serious $$$

I work at an elementary school as basically an assistant to teachers helping kids who can't speak English very well learn how to. Its an entry level job that I get 8.50 an hour for. This is just for until I get my degree. I'm a sophomore in college working towards a bachelor's of science in elementary education so it works.

After studying biochemistry for three years I joined the U.S. Army. The job sucks but I get to travel a lot, unfortunately mostly to Iraq and Afghanistan. Pay is great, but I still think I will get out when my contract ends.

I take care of someone's collection of really nice cars. Pays $15 an hour cash money and it's really chill, I come and go whenever I want. But not having a schedule and not being very motivated by money (but at the same time desperately needing it) means that I take way too many days off in lieu of doing shit that makes me happy. It'll catch up to me some day but for now I'm scraping by and if I ever get the itch to make some cash the sky's the limit with how many hours he let's me work.
I also work every side job that comes my way and a little bit of hustling here and there to keep the bills paid .

I work as a piping drafter/mapper for a fairly large engineering company. I also do some project management coordinating with a little environmental permitting on the side.
My job is kind of stressful sometimes, but I enjoy the challenge and the fact that not every project is exactly the same. I also don't have to live paycheck to paycheck anymore, which is great!

well in this country we discourage gaining wealth by taxing the fuck out of you if somehow manage to get rich. Make more money so you can give 50% of it away to the government! yaaay! fuckin socialist bastards.
I'm a bartender. It's awesome. I just started and I can see myself doing this for a while. At least long enough to save some real $$ until I figure out something I'd like to go to school for...or I may just open my own business. Loads of opportunities in this country.
edit: also, in every experience I've had - Quiznos>Subway
The people at subway never speak english and suck dick at sandwhich making. Quiznos has their shit together...the $5 footlong is deals, but the quality is sub par
