Why does it seem like the mold makes the myc grow faster? Whats the stage that you are most likely to see contams?

at any stage where you dont use proper sterile techniques or dont dry your grain properly..
there are alot of variables to cover, but the one that I personally have noticed to be most common is wet grain.. especially those that are just getting started with grain prep.. if your grains are prep'd properly, PC'd right, and you follow sterile procedure when inoculating, then you shouldnt have an issue with contams..

Wut?

Any time. Check every 3-4 days, leave them alone otherwise.

Ok. Here's what I was talking about. Spotted myc growth one morning. Woke up the next morning little more growth but, a green dot also. After I spotted the green dot it just seemed like the myc went wild and started growing every where. The next morning almost all white with bigger green area. Just seemed like the mold encouraged the myc to grow. I thought contams would kill mycelium. Now three jars with mold are sitting in PC ( making sure you PC contam jars before dumping or doing anything with them right?) and in my FC are 11 jars growing nicely!

nope
nope, what? not exactly a helpful answer.. in any way..
when I would get contams back in the day, i really just threw the jars out, and got a couple more.. i didnt want to release spores out into the house at all..
although, if it were to happen now, i would PC, dump and clean with soap and water outside, then bring inside, and PC the empty jars again.. im just paranoid..
If "nope" was meant to the following statement
Quote:
Just seemed like the mold encouraged the myc to grow.
then i agree.. no.. mold/contam bad.. any contam'd jars should go bye bye and started over.. its not worth losing hella other shit, just because you wanted to save 1 jar..
much better than just saying "nope", with no explanation of anything..
