Recently I've become the owner of a set of "video glasses", what I guess could be called a head mounted display. Basically they're glasses/goggles that you hook up to a video source and it is supposed to look like an 80" screen from a few feet away. Here's a picture of what the glasses look like:

Just an FYI, there is a controller type thing in the wire that runs to your glasses you you don't have to use those shitty headphones, you can hook up a good pair and use that to listen with.
I also got a VGA to AV adapter so I can hook it up to my computer and use it for Milkdrop visuals and similar. Some of the glasses will directly support VGA at a 1024x768 resolution, but most don't and the VGA to AV adapter is a cheap solution to that issue. Maybe it will be cool to play some NES/Sega etc. roms with a USB controller and the glasses too, haven't tried that yet.
The picture quality isn't the greatest, it's a little blurry around the edges, I think because it's magnified by the lenses somehow. Obviously not HD, but works on the PS3. I think I'll stick to my HDTV for most of my gaming, but I'll have to try it out some more. I tried playing Black Ops online with it and did ok, but the blurring around the edges was a little bit of a problem when needing to visualize my surroundings. I was watching a Phish concert DVD on it before and it was decent.
I also hooked it up to the computer with Milkdrop visualizer fullscreen on Winamp, and that's where it really shined. I'd say that will be pretty mind-blowing on a decent dose, add some nitrous to the equation and I might just somehow manage to break them and not even realize it lol.
Part of me is curious as to how it would be on DMT because all you see is this screen in front of you, and with Milkdrop visuals being your entire field of vision, I don't know how things could possibly look at that point. I could easily see forgetting about the glasses, could be kind of freaky when you don't know why all you're seeing are these insane visuals on top of your insane visuals.
These also support "field-sequential" 3D, and I was able to get a few DVDs of this format (which is not the same as the current 3D Blurays). The 3D functionality works, but not as awesome as I hoped but I didn't watch much. Maybe there is better stuff out there, and maybe the rest of the films are better than the few minutes I watched.
Overall a little pricey, and maybe the somewhat sub-par picture quality (opposed to current HD televisions) wouldn't justify it for most people. I didn't but them just for tripping, but it certainly crossed my mind that they would be fun for that, especially when hooked up to the computer while running a music visualizer. It runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery (inside of a controller type thing in the main wire to the glasses), supposedly runs for like 3.5 hours. Will probably be buying an extra battery just to have it.
Anyone else own anything like this? I think it's pretty cool and don't regret purchasing it. Not sure how much I'll be using it but for now it's holding my interest.
