First time solo trip?

So I've tripped 4 times before. I've had one trip that I would consider an all out bad trip (while all the other ones had their hellish moments, they were pretty positive overall). I was recently given a chance to aquire some very potent mushrooms, but the dose would only be enough for one person (as far as strong doses go, I feel like anything under 1/8th is not really a trip kind of a trip). I'm thinking about a solo trip (my first one), possibly in total darkness and silence (I've never tried that before and seems like a lot of people here say that it's a very enlightening and therapeutic experience), but I'm also kind of afraid. I'm rally drunk right now typing this haha and that seems like a bad trip in itself, so obviously I'm afraid. But I also always wanted a purely spiritual trip, get to really know my true self kinda thing. What would you guys suggest? I'd like to hear some personal experiences with the whole tripping in the dark alone thing, but really anything would be helpful

I'm interested in hearing the community's input on this as well. It seems like every time I trip with friends at some point during the evening I always wander off to be alone and get introspective for a little while.
It would only be fair to give myself an entire trip that I can devote to looking within. I mean it's fun sporadically playing with glow sticks, getting light shows, being creative with black light paint, or getting in a trance whilst staring at an iTunes visualizer, but there's a time for fun and there's a time for enlightenment and for me the latter is long overdue.
I wouldn't even know where to start though .

I've done this before, almost exclusively. As a really introspective person, tripping with other people always stressed me out. By myself, I feel unrestrained and free to trip.

Meditation sounds like a good place to start, personally I've only meditated a few times on psychedelics. If you're going to go that route I can write a little about meditation for you.
As far as whether or not an individual is prepared to solo trip, it all depends on you man. I've always looked at it as a sort of rite of passage you know, nervousness is natural that way - you're facing yourself and the world inside and around you. I'm always nervous before a trip. How do you look at it man-dig? Do you need advice or encouragement?
*edit: I've solo tripped many - many times.

Yes I've thought this through now and I feel like it wouldn't matter if it's a 'good' or a 'bad' trip, it's really what I get out of it that matters, so I should just go for it. I'd still like to hear other people's experiences with their first solo trips, would probably make me less anxious haha as there's still that part of me that's afraid of the bad trip (mostly cause I've been there and I feel like I don't wanna go back to hell xD, especially if I have no one to talk me through it)

My first solo trips are too hazy to remember
If you decide to try it solo I would recommend listening to music during the come up, just to set the mood and get you over the hump. If you're going to dip into some meditation, thats all on you.

Solo trips are by far the best, a high dose of potent shrooms is ill advised though. You can have introspective moments on a lower dose. But if you insist on being terrified so be it

Solo is great cause you don't have to deal with others crap... Just your own

I strongly recommend solo, dark, quiet room. Nothing but you and your brain to discuss things with.
Strong trips can be really good if you're ready for them. If you have some crap on your plate, you better clean it off before doing a strong solo trip. Otherwise it's going to come and deal with you, and not in the most pleasant of ways.
Get your shit together, clean up any loose ends, dedicate more time than you think you need, and have at it.
I can't really give you any expectations, because every trip is different. You can read through the level 5 (or even level 4) reports and get some past stories, but you really need to write your own and it's going to be unique.

Solo trips are very cool, I have taken only one but I really enjoyed it. I spent most of the time in my room just lying on my bed, but seemed to travel great distances. Here is what I wrote about it..
Quote:
Dank_Trichome said: Drove an hour outside of the city last night to watch the stars. Me + 2 friends + beer = good times. Spent the night watching the stars rise and fall. Saw many shooting stars. Talked about everything imaginable.
Arrived home at 4 am after dropping my buddies off. Dosed 3.5g upon arrival to depart on my first solo trip. Gulped em down with some water and went to bed. No music, just tried to sleep/lay still.
Intense peak, was overcome with my ability to be conscious, and to be conscious of my conscious.
What I just wrote doesn't even make sense, but there is no way to write what I was feeling and that is as close as I am able to comprehend at the moment.
Felt compelled to leave, to do something. At the same time felt compelled to stay, because there really wasn't anywhere for me to go or do. Wandered around my room looking for a shirt, for my keys, for w/e, just tripping face and not knowing what to do with myself.
So I sat down and watched Baraka, which was recommended by someone here. I had watched this movie once before sober, and thought it was pretty cool. Watching it the second time tripping was an experience, I highly recommend it. The scene after all the eggs/chicks/traffic where it's just one guy who contorts his face with all the noise in the background was absolutely facemelting.
After the movie ended I took a shower. Also a first time for me tripping. It felt amazing. I was only in there for a few minutes but it was also a very reassuring eternity.
So it is from this shower I go forth into the world. And what passion I will go with the likes of you have never seen. I am but one of the shooting stars I saw earlier that night, only in existence for but a second, but what a second that shall be!
Kudos to anyone who read all of that. If not, that's cool too. Peace.
I was nervous beforehand too, but it turned out to be one of my most memorable trips.

I agree. With others I always feel as if I am the host of the experience (generally my mushies, and I am the one with the most experience). So I am constantly concerned with making sure the trip is good for them and I don't get a lot of time to focus on my own experience.
I almost always trip alone, and I always meditate for a significant portion of the trip. Solo and group trips are worlds apart, be ready for that- but I agree that solo is so much better, at least for the sort of experience I am looking for.
To answer your question more directly, I find that a higher dose is better and easier to do when solo- you never have to worry about what to do next or anything it just happens. A 5g trip while meditating in a dark room will never leave you wondering what to do next. Also, make sure to hit the shower for a while too (world's best think tank). My only warning is that you should wait for a big trip alone until you are completely at peace with the idea of losing control of your mind. In the state of mind you seem to be now, it may indeed be scary. When it's time, you will know.

First time I did LSD I did 4 hits by myself. I was 15 lol it was a Sunday night and my dad was home but he never bothered me. It was one of the best experiences of my life that I still can't find words to describe 5 years later lol. Ive tripped prob 20+ since then alone and never had a bad time just instances of some fear and anxiety that subsided
If you do deft plan it out. Have a good mindset and setting and have a friend or two on speed dial in case you need someone. Goodluck mate

Thanks guys, this has been really helpful! I'll prolly take a few weeks to get a few things out of the way that are stressing me out at the moment(mostly midterms and a new job ), perhaps with a clearer mind this kind of a thing will be much more rewarding. And Dank_Trichome, your experience sounds just beautiful

Why? If it was going to be his first trip I might not be so quick to endorse a solo w/o a sitter, but it's not like he has no idea what he's getting into.
I would recommend a solo trip for anyone who has only tripped in groups before. It's awesome
mmmmmm solo trip.,...

Didn't really mean it in that sense. Just making the point that people are generally pretty nice on the shroomery and try to help out. That's what makes it the best forum
