Patterns

So I kinda dig this whole lent thing. I'm not sure what is has to do with Christianity, but I'm attaching my own idea to it.
Our life is a bunch of patterns. Our thoughts, actions, daily routines... we get entrenched. My life has become almost stagnant.
By giving something up it forces us to pursue new territory, to explore new patterns. Well, I decided to give up my Shroomery pattern for the next 40 days. This in one pattern that has become almost habitual. I wake up in the morning and I find myself almost unconsciously turning on my computer to check the forums. I will reserve judgment on whether this is a good or bad thing, but one thing is clear; I will have a lot more time to pursue other avenues in my life (at least 2 hours more a day).
I enjoy the time I spend here and the comradeship I get from this forum. This is surely the closest you can get to having online friends. Cheers for now gentleman (And woman).
Mr. Kickle, I would ask you to please forum-wide ban me for 40 days. I don't want any temptation here. :cool

You'll be missed; I wish you success in all your endeavors.

You'll just be eating more junk food and looking at more porn. But I'll enjoy the break.

It's the law of addictive equilibrium. Give up one vice and another takes its place. I got trapped in that trying to quit drinking alcohol.

I changed some patterns recently.. but instead of taking a break from shroomery.. I took a break from computer and internet all together. Patterns outside of patterns...

I can't remember who said it, but it is better to try grow a good habit next to a 'bad' one and hope it overgrows, than to remove and create a void. Whenever I take a break from cannabis, I find myself buying a pack of cigars from time to time, and I almost never smoke tobacco.

I'm not going to quit shooting up heroin, but I'm going to start drinking herbal tea in the mornings to balance it out.

Hey, just give up chocolate, or masturbation. Why be so extreme?

Why don't you ever select any of the moods?

I suppose because i don't consider my minds changing moods very important
There's no distance between the feeling of 'I' and the feeling of happiness
Why would i be measuring a passing mood when i am immeasurably happy?
