Made friends with the neighbours 1

We just moved in to a new place, and decided to do something which I consider an OLD idea... but a GOOD one!
We baked cupcakes, all of us decorated them, then we took them around to our neighbours houses! And, they were all really nice! All quite different from us, but that doesn't matter.
I figure it's something we've lost quite a bit in the world today... that community feeling. Our communities are more based on the internet, we seem to be more scared / stand offish of each other and most of all, feel that we don't have the time to do things like this.
Mind you, we did have an alterior motive... When we have parties... I like to hire a bigarse sound system for the backyard.. and make lots of noise till late.... Hopefully they won't complain as quickly as they might've, now they know we're freakin' sweethearts.
I also decorated this cupcake:

hehehehe... I did it for the shroomery a bit too ;-)
Anyone else get to know their neighbours... or just wait for the complaints / fights?

way to spread the positive vibe.
my neighbor cleaned my driveway with his snowblower, a few months back. So my gf got them chocolates for xmas to return the favor.
His wife informed her that one of our dogs got loose and killed one of her (7) cats. she was baseing this on her cat was missing, and it must be the neighbors boxers / pitbull...

you rock... invite the neighbors to your parties, really make it a community affair, they'll be far less likely to complain to anyone other than you and you can then monitor the noise levels for their comfort if they dont attend

I wish I lived somewhere in which I could accept food from a neighbor without being paranoid it had been exposed to something I don't want in my mouth.

i have always been really cool with my neighbors. i consider it a must, especially if you party. any where i have lived i have been able to do what i want with out any worry about the cops being called. i could sit next to the road and smoke weed all day and just get waves and greetings. offering your neighbors a beer, cigarettes, cat food, cupcakes, a prayer w/e it is there into will go a long way. once people see that your friendly, personable and not going to steal their tv or rape their children, they usually wont give you any shit. i have had square neighbors who knew i smoked and partied but understood i was good person to live by, i have never had any neighbor problems, just came out with good friends from it all.

I think that's it, Pilz and PositiveOutlook.
These are people you live in close proximity to. People are territorial creatures, but also social creatures. So, if we know the people around us, we feel far safer and generally our (usually ignorant and naive) fears are quashed. People GENERALLY aren't evil arseholes, they usually just have different standards of what's good and bad... but if their standards aren't likely to harm you or infringe on your own rights, then there's really no problem.
Did anyone figure out the cupcake, btw? Have a closer look.... It's a special Shroomery cupcake...

I re-met my neighbors over the weekend, but I was not the instigator to this meeting. My room mates and I threw a party, and they materialized over the fence with beer and good vibes. Turns out that they are horrible nerds just like myself, smoke too much pot, and play D&D every weekend....Why Did I not meet them sooner? I do not know....

Yay, chemistry!
I bought a classic car off this guy that lives down the road from me a few years back.
This year, I got my plow truck stuck on the side of my paved driveway... He came by and gave me a hand getting out for quite some time. I've been meaning to send him a card or something. I know he doesn't drink, else I'd just make him some beer. Oh well, worst comes to worst I'll drop in and say hello.
My neighbors are great One even keeps horses

This is why a sense of community is lost. People are inconsiderate assholes and lack common courtesy.

Is it really that inconsiderate to want to have a little fun once every few months / year?
I think people have a right to have fun every now and then. I don't exactly keep the thing going all night (ie. Midnight on a Saturday turn off), and I certainly warn the neighbours too.
In the end, they may be pissed off by the noise.. they may love it and come party with us.
Sometimes, we can't please everyone... but at least we can reach some central grounds.
I am certainly not inconsiderate with any planning, not an arsehole nor do I lack common courtesy.
Nor do I believe that adhering to a mass standardized value system encourages good community, as you (badchad) seem to be eluding to. Communities are vibrant, dynamic and different... I don't think that a party (where the neighbours are invited and included) kills communities, dear.

LOL no man I was being serious.
I get it now, but I would say that it relates more to SHROOMS than THE SHROOMERY. I thought it was like somehow a reference to this website...
I feel dumb now hahaha

Having a "big arse party" until all hours of the night (as you implied), with music blaring until daylight is, in fact, inconsiderate. How do you not comprehend this?

Then it's obvious you've never had rude, inconsiderate neighbors dear.

Then it's obvious you've never had rude, inconsiderate neighbors dear.
I had this cunt of a neighbour when I was living in Ballarat... They had this retarded all night party ON a work night and it was already hot so I couldn't sleep. They didn't tell me they were going to have it, I'd never met them and all I knew of them were the shady characters that were frequenting the premises.. and that one time when the chick was locked out (presumably by someone inside), crying, all dressed up on a work day...
Pardon my patronising tone, I understand how I came across now. I exaggerated.. although our parties often go all night.. everyone gets into responsibility mode after a certain time (ie. STOP YELLING you douche bag, we're right fkn here and it's 3am!).
But then, houseparties for me have certain un-spoken rules, like that it has to calm down after a certain time, music can't be loud all night and neither can people, and people can't fuck with the neighbours...
