What Species are These...?

Found these little mushrooms in the soil of a potted oleander. The soil was very sandy. I'm wondering what species we have here?
In the pics you can see a touch of blueing on the stem fibrils, but otherwise the stem doesn't seem to blue a lot when damaged, nor the cap.
Unfortunately there were no mature ones for ID purposes, only these immature ones...

Looks like an active Psilocybe species. Where did the plant come from?

I'd have to agree with this assessment. I also might ponder the thought that they may not get fully mature in the given habitat. Are these still alive?

I'd suggest trying to get them as close to maturity as possible to further help in species determination.. Perhaps even microscopic analysis of spores if possible.

The substrate is in the picture. It's basically sandy potting soil with a fair amount of very fine wood chips. They are alive and I'll see if I can get them closer to maturity. It doesn't seem like they would grow after being dug up, but we'll see.

Really though I bet they are ovoids as well. Do you dig them out of the plant? If so, are they still growing?

I have them in some soil to see if I can get them to maturity for further identification. I'll get some pics up if it works out. I had them refrigerated and the stems showed quite a bit of blueing today. They definitely seem to be an active.

I'm a little suprised. The specimens are recovering from the replant in soil and continuing to mature. I'll get some photos once they make it a little further. Keep your fingers crossed. I'm really curious what the final ID will be...

Likely to be P. ovoideocystidiata.
Looks like a lot of the other collections from the west coast with the wavy gills.
It is rare to see these turn up in house plants.

Howdy Alan, let me clarify. These were found in an oleander pot which is outdoor. The oleanders were just your typical outdoor nursery grown plants. With the good progress I'm having, I should be able to get some spores for analysis. They are being quite the troopers after being torn from their little pot...we shall see. Apparently there is enough of the hyphal mat left for them to draw from to keep growing. I'm sure spore production is most important to them after the insult. The microscope awaits.
Thanks for jumping in on this Alan.

No problem, I'll preserve them. I took some macro pictures of the gills and cap that may be helpful. Here's a picture also of the noticeable growth. The foil is for some spore collection if they make it that far. One of the gill pictures also shows some dark speckles, could be the beginning of spore production...? You'll need to view the image full size to see it.

If these do turn out to be ovoideocystidiata i wouldn't necessarily say they are sterile just yet.Ive noticed that alot of older mature specimens still have the cream colored gills and will not drop spores for at least 24 hours after picking, but thats just my experience.Awesome find for sure and the sub sounds perfect for em .
Example,

I ended up getting prints from all these mushrooms, but not until at least 30 hours after picking.

Thanks for the pics avidpicker...that's helpful for sure. These do look like ovoids to me. It looks like at least one will make it to maturity and sporulate...pretty cool. The gills have darkened slightly.

Yeah, for sure. I think it's dropping too. If you look at the last pics I posted, there are two pins in the background. One of them has totally shot up, and could go allll the way. Its pin partner is stalled and probably being sacrificed for energy to help the shooter.
Whatever species it is, it's a tenacious survivor. While I got some of the mycelial mat, I'm sure it was only a small portion of that originally supplying the nutrients to these fruits. I think the underground mycelium is relentlessly growing in the soil after the fact to make sure at least some of the fruits mature. A lot of mushroom species would likely have just aborted by now...me thinks.

it does look like ovoids in the first photo - bifurcated gills
they can be both a fall fruiter and spring fruiter, unlike cyans, but they are still rare, so it's hard to say what they prefer, or maybe they're just trying to adapt here
the conical type seems to like Spring better, while the wavy type likes Fall, or that's what I've seen
