RE-innoculation!!!<~~~~~~~~( o Y o )
    #1409123 - 03/25/03 01:56 PM (21 years, 27 days ago)

heres the deal

about 2 weeks ago my friend innoculated 6 jars with a syringe that was about a month old.....as of right now...jars show some sign of germination but its EXTREMELY WEAK!!

i believe that the syringe was spent because it was clear and only half full...(i believe most of the spores were used in the first half of innoculations about a month ago)

now hes got another full syringe that has many visible spores in it...and he fears it will begin to expire since he does not have a frigde.....

my friend want to re-innoculate my jars with said syringe...the strain is the same, CREEPER

PROS? CONS?

As soon as the mycelia begins to form, life was created and a fungus will live as long as food is present in it's immediant enviroment. Slow growth will result from several sources.

Overpacking the jars will dramatically slow growth. A smaller number of spores introduced will intially slow growth, but reproduction occurs in fungi cell groups exponentially. The more you start with the further the process can occur. Also temperature has an effect. Cold temps will slow growth. And finally the mixture of the ingrediants for the jars. There is room for variations, but there are tried and tested techniques that work best, all found in the FAQs.

If the jars are created correctly, and the temps are in the general area (room temp will be fine), and growth has started, then the jar will eventually become 100% colonized. This could take up to 2 months if the jars are packed very tightly and only a small amount of spores is introduced. As long as light is kept from the jars, they will most likey still fruit. And spore syringes have been know to last for over a year and still have viability. Seeing any mycelia grow is an indication that the spores still retain the DNA required to create life.

And jars are cheap. Just make more and let the other ones go. They might be there when the new jars are about spent.....

well actaully...out of the 6 jars....1 or 2 are colonizing nicely at around 50%...but for some reason the others seem like laggers...

would re-innoculation bring about any troubles?
