Best In Vitro Strain

Which strain of psyilocybe cubensis will fruit the best in a growbag?
Also, which website produces the best growbags for in vitro tek? I have read that grain based bags tend not to do very well. Is there a site where I can buy filter patch bags filled with poo or something better than grain?

You want invitro, buy a sclerotia producer. They do great on grain and you don't ever have to open the bag. Cubensis will fruit inside the bag, but will perform poorly, it needs oxygen to grow. Sclerotia doesn't.

I don't think any of the sclerotia producers are cubensis. But these are probably your best bet for ease and invitro; Psilocybe galindoi, Psilocybe mexicana, Psilocybe tampanensis/Pollock, Psilocybe mexicana...

Ofcourse, cubensis are not sclerotia producers. I was just saying, if OP wants invitro, sclerotia producing Psilocybes are the best option. Search for the therad 'easier than cubes', you'll learn all about them.

It's actually something you can select for!
In some instances, invitro pinning is a genetic attribute. Clone invitro fruits and you might find a substrain that does just what you want.
But the name on the syringe doesn't matter. Get the surprise pack.

strain discussion has its own thread although i think it's more of a cultivation topic by now.

Guys, I want mushrooms, not sclerotia. It will only fruit with no oxygen for the first flush. I will open the bag to mist and fan for the following flushes.
From what I've read, it seems like Ecuador, PF, or Penis Envy will do well in the bag. Is this true?

As most people here will tell you, the name someone wrote on the foil makes very little difference. The fact is, Cubensis needs air, it's not intended for invitro growth, but you will get some deformed fruits even then, from most "strains".

Cubensis are one and the same for the most part, as far as cultivation is concerned. They'll all fruit in the same exact parameters, all of which require oxygen to some extent for healthy growth.

Why?
As said above, the name printed on the syringe has nothing to do with it. It's merely the location where that particular variety was found, or simply a marketing ploy. If you want a specific quality from a certain flush or individual fruit on a consistent basis, you need to select and isolate. A multispore syringe will yield many different substrains, so you never really know what to expect.

You need to get over your fear of contams. They're a risk you approach wisely, not something you shut out.

If the name comes from the region where it was cultivated and those regions have different environments, does it not stand to reason that each strain will be genetically different to be better suited at surviving in its environment? Could this genetic variation not include an adaptation that allows survival in low oxygen environments? I do believe that's how biology works.
For example, there is only one species of domesticated dog, canis lupus, but there is great phenotypic variation within the species (i.e. Chihuahuas vs. St. Bernards). If you put a Chihuahua in the Swiss Alps it would not be able to survive.
I need a "strain" or whatever you want to call it that can thrive in lox oxygen environments.

They come from shotgun FCs and monotubs worldwide.
You can't do what you're asking to do and if you read through the Strain Thread you'll understand why. Agar and isolation is the only way to make it happen.

If I get a plastic tub, poke some holes in it, cover the bottom with wet perlite, and dump the fully colonized contents of the grow bag in it, would I get higher yields?

This thread has been closed.
Reason: Questions about so-called strains belong in the strain thread at the top of the page.
