    #14089564 - 03/08/11 10:20 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

hi all, im going to have my next monotub in a cupboard under my snake tank, the monotub will have polyfill like in the standard tek. now my Q is should i have two computer fans in the backing of the cupboard (1 sucking in air, 1 blowing out) the cupboard space measures 60cm tall, 40cm wide and 40cm deep.

Fans are bad, in general.

well your prolly safe during colonization down there but yes you will need means of fae but you must retain moister and humidity also, i cant answer about the fans, but if you can bring it to an open spot durring fruiting thats your best bet.

i have guests over alot and i didnt want my light and tub in the open, the light is easily mountable in the cabinet i had in mind. if it was just 1 computer fan (or similar size) installed in the back of the cabinet, i would cut out a frame from the backing, would this suck air out of the cabinet space and help circulate fresh air?

Fans dry out substrates.  This seems to be fairly consistent.

If you can put it on a timer and run it for small intervals, then
you should be fine.  (something like 5 mins on 25 mins off...or less)

I even had problems with a lame sponge type humidifier...it seemed to
dry out stuff with its air blast!

Good luck,

JD

putting it on a timer sounds like a good idea, so 5 mins on 25mins off. Thanks alot
