How long have you been posting here now?
Maybe it's time to read the forum rules.

Do me a favor and add a short description of the video and a proposed topic for discussion please as stated in the rules. The alternative is I lock the thread.

The earliest video I found on youtube is from 2007. Has anyone else found a follow up or the text of the study?

i think it's understandable given the immense amount of useless shit humans are forced to learn and remember every day. i would guess it clogs up the brain and fucks with efficiency. maybe i'm totally wrong, but just a thought.

Which is why it'd be really nice to find a follow up. Or at least the source text of this particular study. What kind of humans do better at this test? Or what are some reasons why we suck so much at it?

Hm, I read through the pdf. And now I'm wondering if the fact that the monkeys had been doing these tests for nearly 2 years has anything to do with their performance. As in, I wonder if given two years of training (and a treat after each success) a human would be begin to match the monkey's performance?

A carry over effect? Hmm.. I however did not read the article.. does it mention any order effects being countered for?

They didn't mention controlling for any variables, actually. I find that a little suspect. And I hope there is a follow-up going on out there somewhere.
Though their results showed that adult humans did better at the task than adult chimpanzees. And the young chimpanzees completely schooled everyone at the task. They claim that this might be "reminiscent" of eidetic memory -- photographic memory. Which young human children have been shown to be better at than human adults.
