Fasting for Lent

Going on a quiet juice/water fast for lent. I want to make it the full 46 days until Easter.
I'm compiling a journal with my favorite prayers from various schools of thought. included are some passages and prayers from the Tibetan book of the dead, Diamond Sutra, Baghavad Gita, Divine pymander, the Bible, some excerpts from the Gnostic Bible, Sepher Yetzira, etc.
If anyone has any advise or suggestions, I'd love to read them.

I suggest far out into the desert with five grams of shrooms and the castaneda books. Lent will never look the same.

Just downloaded the .Pdf
I might culminate with time in the desert, but I was planning on reading about Ambramelin the mage. I don't know if they're correlated, but if we're talking deep spiritual connection and piercing the veils of illusion, I'm all about it.
It's now on my Lent reading list.
And I uploaded the .pdf for anyone else interested.

That first book is just background. Unless you plan on reading the first four then skip it and read Journey to Xtlan and or Tales of Power. Book three and four. I've read both over 20 times.

Cool. Found em all online. I'll start with them this week, then see if I want to end the fast with a mushroom vision in the desert.
Thanks for the lead!

I'll be grateful for every day I get through, whether it's 1, 7, or 46 days.
I'm very optimistic. I didn't know Lent began tomorrow until this week, but all of the books I've read lately have discussed the practice in detail.
I don't believe in coincidence anymore.

i've read about people doing 40-day water fasts, but this is usually something to work yourself up to after a lot of experience fasting, also they report extreme fatigue during it as you'd imagine. doing a juice fast instead i think would be a lot more doable, and should give you enough energy still to get through the day (though it'll still be challenging)

10 days juice fast, 10 day water, 10 day juice, 10 day water, and the remaining 6 days for raw foods and light snacking. I plan to be more active at the culmination, following Icelander's suggestion.
While I'm fairly new to the practice of fasting, the power of my own will is unquestionable. 6 years in the army made me kinda stubborn, I guess.
I'm excited!

I have a fair mount of experience juice fasting. I've done 19 days but that's it. Water fasting is in another league and can be dangerous for some. But hell why not. If you make it I'm sure it will be a tremendous experience.

Here's to hoping. I'll let you guys know when I break the fast. I'm hoping my old military experience prepared me for what's ahead.

I posted it because I value the opinions of most people here. I'm not trying to show off some tremendous spiritual prowess. I only seek to understand myself and I feel I come to a better understanding when I add differing perspectives.
No one here will see my fast, or how it affects me spiritually.
In contrast to the book of Matthew, in the Essene Gospel of People, Jesus exclaims " Seek not the law in your scriptures, for the law is Life, whereas the scripture is dead. I tell you truly, Moses received not his laws from God in writing, but through the living word. The Law is living word of Living God to living prophets for living men."
To that end I say, all I can do is live in the word, and go where it leads me.
Thanks for the positive words everyone.

It helps your body clear out toxins. While your organs have specific tasks in ridding toxins, stopping the digestive processes helps your body get to all that nasty left behind stuff it normally can't clean out.
It's an amazing tool to strengthen your will power. The biggest obstacle is you! if you've spent your life a slave to the hunger and vices of your own ego/identity, it's a wake-up call to what you're truly capable of.
It's also a way to demonstrate your faith as you walk on whatever path is yours. I'm hoping this culminates in a deeper understanding of the subtle forces around us, and brings me closer to true wisdom.
The list of men and women who have fasted for spiritual insight is endless. even animals will sometimes abandon food in times of sickness until their malady is resolved.

Several traditions use fasting as part of a purification process before a ceremonial act. So as to be as clean and pure as possible before engaging with the divine.

I always fasted 4-12 hours before taking any psychedelic. I think what we eat has an effect on our mind.

Makes sense to me. You are what you eat. May as well eat nothing to try and be nothing, let that divinity in.

One idea I've picked up from reading about raw food is that the body has a finite amount of enzymes at it's disposal at any given time, and if these enzymes are tied up with relentless digestion, they aren't able to do other bodily tasks as well. Fasting quiets the digestive tract and allows enzymes do benefit your other internal organs and systems.
