Dont know much about booze, but I've taken a liking to occasional wine. Any suggestions? What do you like?
I prefer red. Brands should be common & easy to find.

also grocery stores usually have some killer sales on wines every week. Just go in and check what you can get with a discount. Get a 20 dolla bottle for 10 bucks or whatever you fancy.
Half the fun of drinking wine is buying random brands and pretending you know alot of wines and criticizing them.

The local winery here produces an array of wine that's commonplace almost everywhere. Oliver wine... it's some good shit.

I prefer to brew my own wine.
Home brewing is actually a lot easier than people may expect, and it's not hard at all to produce high quality wine for $2.50 a bottle or less.
My last batch cost me about $1.25 per bottle and tastes great.
All of my friends like it too so i'm not just biased to my own wine.

For good cheap wine your best bet is going to be in the box.
There are some excellent wines for 10-12 dollars a bottle (750ml) but even that is too expensive for some. Some of the box wines aren't bad at all and you pay maybe 15-20 bucks for 3 liters, so it's a good deal.
I suggest trying the "Bota Box" brand. It's cheap and not bad.

do yourself a favor, if you are going to drink cheap wine buy a decanter.. it will seriously change the taste of the wine for the better.
if you have a big lots close they are the king of the $4.00 bottle of wine
robert mondavi is really great as well also has a spin off for $8.00 which is decent and no hangover
the great thing about wine is you can never judge by the label and every bottle is special in its own special way.
if you want a list i can make one up for you but i can guarentee my tastes and yours are way different.
ps: syrahs, meritage, and other blends are really nice as well. be brave

$1.25 per bottle? How? Grapes are pretty expensive, and even cheap grape juice is at least 2$ a liter. You growing your own grapes or something?
