Psychedelics and Successful Living

I love exploring the inner workings of my mind. I'm currently a university student finishing majors in finance and economics, and yes, I would like to be successful in life. I want a career that pays very well, I want to start a family, and at the same time I want to be able to understand myself and others on a greater level by the use of psychedelics. When I trip I try to integrate these values to how they can lead me to accomplish my goals. I know money doesn't always equate to success but I've always wanted to be able to provide myself and my family with a high quality of life without stressing about financial difficulties.
Are you "successful"? I often find myself wondering how many psychadelic users consider themselves to be successful in life. Like having a good well-paying job, a family, a solid foundation on life, etc. I already know that psychedelic users have a better grasp on their lives, but if you find yourself to be what you would consider to be successful in life, what contribution did using psychedelics provide, for better or worse?

Psychedelics effect people different ways. People have had life changing experiences on these substances before. It COULD happen and drastically effect your life. I would not however say that psychs have a direct effect on how successful you are. I would say that has more to do with how you are as a person. I myself have taken a great deal. I am a college student. I'm a senior in computer graphics technology. I'm working on building a portfolio and trying to get an internship. I have not had issues being successful because of psychs. I would however say in some ways it has benefit my creativity. I would also advise against significant use of psychedelics the day before a strenuous project or goal. Simply because the day afterward you can feel kinda...wonky..hungover...lethargic. Sure you can push through these feelings but not everyone is up to snuff for such things. In general though I would say trip balls....It's the shit.

I am a professional with two Masters Degrees and wear a suit and tie to work everyday. I have a highly respected job that pays well and am an upstanding member of my community. I have it all - the house, the car, the pool, etc. No one knows of my psychedelic usage, I don't even have friends who smoke weed. This forum is the only outlet I have to discuss this underworld that I inhabit.
I do not attribute any of my success to psychedelics, they get me high on weekends and are used for purely recreational purposes. If anything, they probably detract from my ability to think critically and rationally. They probably are also responsible for annoying memory problems that I sometimes have.

I wonder how many of us are out there, hidden and holding key positions, influential jobs, and with our hands on some of society's levers. Too bad they'll lock us in cages with murderers and rapists if we are found out.

That's pretty much what I was wondering, who the successful closet psychedelic users are. That's what my goal is, to be successful with the recreational use of psychadelics. I'm glad to hear of your story, you are successful in my eyes.

i myself am struggling to understand what "successful" even means. is it living with the most ease? or is it living happily or helpfully? what combination will make me most satisfied with myself and my life? im really confused, and struggling to understand who i am and what my purpose in life is. psychs give me a second vantage point on all the commotion. for people that are "ready", some drugs can heighten their awareness.
ive tried a few things, more so than rest of my friends. i use some drugs to experiment with my mind but use others to explore it. im on an instinctive hunt for adventure and understanding, and drugs fill the gap that would have otherwise never existed.
-------------------- I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Yeah, if you were me, you'd have to do the same thing Fractal. Otherwise you'd lose it all.

Well I guess that's the difference between you and me. Instead of losing it all I gave it all away because there's no reason to build a house of cards that I'm going to destroy by living the way I want to so I strive to create the reality that I desire every day.

Ditto. My situation exactly, except that there was about a 30 year hiatus from all drugs except occasional alcohol and occasional weed while I raised a family - until my interest in psychedelics were re-awakened by my own children smoking weed and scarfing mushrooms. Then I found this forum about 4 years ago, lurked a bit, and the rest is history.
Had my brief run with cultivating shrooms but find them to be too labor intensive, to take too long to cultivate, and too hard to hide the grow. Then I found DMT and it became my all-time favorite both in the freebase form for vaporization, and as the fumarate salt for oral ingestion with an MAOI.
In 11 days I'm going to drop L for the first time in 40 years with my 26 year old son as my trip sitter. How cool is THAT?? The next night I trip sit HIM! That's our agreement!
My psychedelic use is much less frequent that every week-end, though. Once every three weeks to a month at most...sometimes not at all for three months at a clip. Gives me something to look forward to, though and makes it seem very special.
N.B.

I would love to experience something like this with my dad, maybe it could happen at Burning Man this year... My parents have no knowledge of my substance use but as long as I'm doing well in school and keeping a job they're happy, and I manage to do both of those things well, so it wouldn't be out of the question to bring it up! I'm jealous of the open relationship you have with your son, I'd like to have that one day too.

Psychedelics contributed learning experiences to me by showing me a clear image of what paths there are to take in life and which paths are worth taking. They reveal my true self and motivate me to bring about the fullest potential in me.
They have brought me to the conclusion that my knowledge, skills and talent would best be used in film making, writing, and music to share with the rest of the world.
When i take psychedelics i like to write whatever thoughts and insightful phrases that come to mind as well as short and long term goals. All of these in the long run bring material to my writings and future films.
Of course, there is so much more that psychedelics have brought to me, all ranging from the most complex theories to the most simplest ones...then again...complexity leads to simplicity.
