I havent been online for a few weeks. Been busy snow skiing. I am old school when It comes to the shroomery. used to go by a different nick, the old me was even a bigger dick.
Workman- I would spend hours in shroomey chat asking him stuff.
Psilocyber- Always trying new shit back in the day. Him and workman got smart and realized that a single cube can be worth alot if you sell its spores. Print= $20+
Agar Roger Rabbit Roadkill Anno Citizen Phish Mycelium5150
The list of who needs to be mentioned is much longer than this
Thanks to the shroomey I am still learning. Just started playing with coir. I dont usually grow species that digest it, still not sold on it though.
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

When it comes to the cultivation of cubensis, to me, coir is likened to the brown rice flour cake of the bulk substrate world. Due to coir's easiness to source and prepare.
There isn't an additive under the sun that you can't add to coir to perk it up. Just be sure to properly pasteurize manure additives when using Damion5050's coir tek.

If I never use coir again as bulk substrate, until an eternity has passed...
...it'll be too soon.
I REALLY dig coir in casing recipes though.
Gives enough nutrients to ensure the mycelium actually colonizes it a bit. Back when I used 50/50+ I could only apply at MOST 1/4" thick casing layer, as the mycelium wouldn't colonize through it otherwise. I guess I'm just short-bus special.
MGMC+ casing is the best casing mix for me, which of course has coir in it. And for the record, to anyone who might wanna know - to date I have yet to see even ONE uncased grow of cubensis with a canopy as dense as these:

(a portion harvested to show that there are actually three layers of fruits.

Straight poo is the preference.
However, the troops are hungry!
10 lbs poo + 10 lbs coir = 20 lbs of substrate.
100 lbs poo + 100 lbs coir = 200 lbs of sub substrate.
1000 lbs poo + 1000 lbs coir = 2000 lbs of substrate.
-----------
Do you see the trend here?
Without the coir added the figures go as follows
10 100 1000
With the coir
20 200 2000 ----------
This is why I advise adding coir. Without it added you are literally cutting yourself short by reducing your yield ~ 50%.
So no matter how you look at it you will have a greater yield by putting a greater overall weight in substrate into your grow.
20 lbs is a lot more than 10. You will pull a higher yield off 20 pounds of substrate than ten and I ain't arguing about that with anyone ...... Coir added or not -

1000 lbs of manure = free 1000 lbs coir $$$$$$big money
I think 2000 lbs of straight manure would yield the same or more than a 50/50 manure coir mix. If you cant find enough manure kept looking or take a drive to the country and talk to some people who own horses, they will be happy to give it to you just tell them you need it for your garden. Next time you need more buy some tomatos and bring them tthe people you are getting the manure from, make sure to take any labels off them so they will think you grew them. CH

i wouldn't recommend that, most store bought tomatoes are horrid and nasty, they might never give you any manure again if they think you're growing that crap
I'd suggest growing a few tomatoes as well, most of us either have a garden ourself, or has family that has a garden :-P

LOL, Bio I have a nice garden(I also have acess to horse stables) but some people don't have the room for a garden. You can get some good tomatoes from health food stores though, they aren't cheap but they cost alot less than 1000# of coir. CH

Summer time I agree with you,.
Winter not so much.
It is very cold here. all the poo is frozen So i actually have my poo mailed into me
With that being said.... It costs about a buck a pound for the coir I get,.
I give my buddy 200 bucks for 100 pounds a month of poo during this season.
I spend another 100 for a total of 300 during the winter. '
300 dollars ain't shit to me in the grand :scale: of things! I don't know about you
It takes money to make money.
But as I said during the spring- fall I agree..... My buddy actually brings me truck loads that time a year.
Thanks for the suggestion though hombre'

Sounds like access to on the Northeast coast is shitty.
...and I'm referring to it being 'frozen.'
Around these parts - fuck, it was just RAINING a couple nights ago. That shouldn't happen for at least another 3 weeks, and it's also like third rain we've had this winter.
...side note: GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL PEOPLE!
Anyway, there's more than one HUGE pile-o-shit just within a 20-mile radius of where I live. There are quite literally about a dozen stables within a 2-mile radius of where I live as well, and I live only about 7 or 8 miles from downtown, with a population of over 500,000. So, not very rural.
I have firm convictions. I believe everyone should have access to a perpetually renewing, practically endless supply of .
