Short 1/2 Pints

Ok I just made a 30 mile radius trip from house looking for the short 1/2 pint jars. At one place they said that they had them last year, but didn't stock any more because of the price. All the other places didn't have a clue as to what short 1/2 pint jars were. I've seen them on ebay for about $25.00 per set of 12. Whats up with that and where can I find them for a reasonable price. Live in N.W.Pa.

I have had problems finding them around me.. Usually just say screw it and go with the tall ones. If you really want the short ones, and cant find them around.... Order them online. Im sure if you went somewhere like a hardware store or something, they may be able to order them in.

yea, if the major stores aren't carrying them go to local Hardware stores. I get all my jars from my local HW store now, because wally world doesn't carry Wide Mouth Quart jars this time of year.

I live in SHIT HOLE Pa., (a 1 horse town), & have done biz with Ace for many years here in this town, but they no longer use ACE as thier logo. Talked to them but they didn't have any listing for them. I think they call them "Elite'. It was sugested that I check the Ahmish stores. I think there might be an Ace about 40 miles away. It would be worth the trip if I don't have to pay $25.00 per 12. And I'm not the 1 who owns the horse. I did buy a case of tappered pints and thought WOW what a nice cake that would make if it would colonize. I figure about 2 CC per pint. What do U think?

nope. I meant quart. Why does that sound low? There's no reason to waste spore solution. That's 7 days after inoculation w/ 1/2 cc...I G2G'ed it to 10, now I'm G2Ging 2 of those to 20 tonight.
$25 is way too much for 1/2 pints. I get 12 wide mouth quarts for $11 (including tax)

Todlow, that looks likes a great start. I'm a noob and trying get enough going so that I don't have to pay the high price of supplied spore syringes. I want to make prints to start for later use & then xferr to syringe. I dont have a flowhood yet just a GB. My rye just arrived today but was piddle farting around with tall 1/2 pints when I found out that they should have been the shorter ones and that 1/2 CC per half pint should knock up ok. I guess everyone has a difrnt therory. I read everything and then pick what is right in my mind and only time will tell if I did it right. But even a failure will tell me something, (Like I wont catch a buzz this week), better luck next week HaHA. Jokes aside I really want to make a few spore prints for later use, or when something disastrous happens. Always plan ahead, even if it is ahead of yourself, which in my case,,,, well u get the point.

using rye the tall 1/2 jars are fine, just like quarts are fine, even half gallon jar work...the reason the tall ones dont work for Brown Rice Flour is because it compacts and its hard for the myc to colonize it, but grains dont compress down so it works fine..
I usually use 2cc spores on quart jars, but with LC/GLC i only use 1cc

Go online to midwest supply and get theirs shipped. Otherwise go to the collar store and buy glasses for $1 a piece and use those.

Was just there & they only have 1/4 pints (4 oz's)which when I saw the videos they kept saying 1/2 pints & I kept saying " there showing 1/4 pints". Last I knew 4 oz's were 1/4 of a pint or did I sleep that day in school. Not sure now as many suns have risen and fallen since then.

yeah, 16 oz is a pint, i just know that the local store is the only place where I live that sells the short wide ones, otherwise do what i do and get the regular jelly jars, they work just fine

I don't know, but I'm sitting here looking at a pint jar & thinking that it would really make a nice looking cake, 4.5 inches tall & about 2.5 + inches wide at what will be the bottom when fruiting. If that doesn't work I'll drop down to the 1/4 pints & stack 3 or 4 on top of each other. Gota get prints so that I can play with teks to see what works best 4 me.

I use pint cakes also, they work just fine for me, just make sure you give them the extra time for consolidation

Will do, don't plan on giving shrooms fert by being 6 ft under anytime soon, so I will give them time to colonize b4 xferr. Thanks
