Need Help...Is this normal???

I have a few PE6 cakes and have had pretty good yield from them... Their caps have been very weird tho... They get a white covering on them when they are pins and then when they grow they wilt and some tear... One was so bad that after being in the dehydrator for about an hour was completely black all shriveled up and really hard. The other 3 shrooms in there seemed to be fine so I'm sure its not my dehydrator.
Here's a picture of a cake that has some weird shrooms on it but most of these caps seem to be normal...

Here's a picture of one of the weird caps...

Note: these pics were taken after a misting...

how do you provide your mushrooms with fresh air?
i see no holes in your chamber. the "white film" you are referring to is the fruit bodies being turned back into mycelium due to the EXTREMELY high co2 environment you are keeping them in.
what tek are you using?

Some crazy looking cakes. He has holes in his FC. How are you giving them light?

the pins on the top cake are pins that were invitro... I let my cakes go a little longer than normal becasue they are the tall 1/2 pint cakes...
It is a huge tub and it does have holes every 2 inches on all 6 yes i said 6 sides...
I give it light about 12/12 with a lamp that sits on the floor beside the tub...
It IS in my closet which could be part of my problem. I help solve this problem by keeping the door open and a fan blowing air out of the closet...
Heres a pic of the closet... It's a pretty big closet... prolly 10 feet long and 5 feet wide besides a small part in the center of the room...

Get another light bulb & put it on the other side of the tub & run both lights through the same timer...

Seems to me that mother nature prvides light generally from the top & not from the sides, minus sun up & sun down. Maybe if u have tall carpet the air in the closet is not exchanging. just my thought. Good Luck

This is the only cake that looks like this tho... The other ones had more "normal" looking flushes with a few larger ones and 5-6 medium sized... The only thing with those is the white on the cap and the weird melted looking caps...

Also look like you need to water it more, tall skinny mushrooms and white spots on da cap I thought are indicators of dehydration?

Yes its perlite. The lighting is just weird i guess. and I have been misting quiet a bit. I'm scared that's the reason the caps are mutating.

I've had mycelium grow on caps before. IME the mycelium on the caps came off easily by just rubbing it with my finger before drying.

direction of light does not matter. only how close it is.
i strictly use light entering from the sides. and not the top.
try moving your light closer.
also small rooms like that do not have much if any "natural airflow" which is how the SGFC works.

Yea I realize but this problem of natural air flow should be somewhat altered with the fan exchanging some air from the room every 2 hours for 15 mins and then the surface area from the size of the huge tub the humidity keeps the temp in the tub much lower than the room air which helps a lot of air flow up through the tub... Often as i mist i can watch the mist float up with the air flow...

I have a fish air pump with an air stone in a cup of water in mine, also on a timer. The holes in FC are right at the surface of the perlite. I'll let u know how it works in a few weeks.
