Mushies by the Sea
    #14086574 - 03/08/11 01:01 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Hello all, I found these growing near the central coast of California. Any clue as to what they are?

Habitat: Pine needles and leaves under a pine tree and some yellow flowering tree, near a sandy trail.

Gills: The gills are a deep orange to slightly red, they seem "free".

Stem: Darker orange to slightly red to rusty brown. About a 1/8-1/4 inch diameter.

Cap: Rusty brown to orange, about 1-2 inches in diameter.

Spore print color: I will find out tomorrow!

Bruising: No color change was observed (I only had it with me for around 5 minutes, might not be enough time)

Location: Central coast of CA.

Any clue? :] The bottom left pic is the tree they're growing under, and the bottom right is the general area of where the tree is (in that part of the picture it's the one closest to the right)

I'm going to guess Lacaria SP.

I'd say it's probably a Laccaria sp. as well.

Can you get a better gill shot?

They really do seem like Laccaria, though.
