Favorite Album To Trip To? GO!!!

No one just throws on one song when tripping. It's impossible, you throw it on get distracted by all of it and the album continues to play. So lets here it. Favorite album to trip to? Mine: Atom Heart Mother. Pink Floyd.
NOTE: Not everyone can say "Darkside of the Moon"

Just recently I've discovered: Tool - 10,000 days.
I feel like this is the ultimate tripping beast. I feel like the distortion noises and mood of the album really captures the over-sensory vibes of tripping on shrooms. Also, meaningful lyrics which can be read into quite deeply.

Anything by Pink Floyd. Meddle and DSOTM are favorites. They are all great. I love animals and wish you were here. Live at Pompeii while not an album definitely deserves mention.
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Such great songs Anything by the Beatles, that is an old psychedelic favorite but I love all of their albums, especially Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Abbey Road.
Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane. Recently listened to this in entirety for the first time on mushrooms and I fell in love, amazing songs.
Electric Ladyland by Hendrix is always a tripping standard.. Any Hendrix is great but that one in particular.
Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti and Houses of the Holy are great

Shpongle is good, but I feel kind of corny listening to it because it's honestly specifically meant to be music for tripping.
But I like:
Beats Antique Real Estate Ratatat Royksopp Bonobo Discovery Neon Indian
And then there are a lot of bands I love but wouldn't listen to while on drugs because they're too emotional, or dark, or are special to me.

So glad somebody mentioned Dopethrone. If you have that album, you hardly need drugs. It'll get you there.
The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull by Earth is tasty. Linger Fickin Good by Revolting Cocks...Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath... The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste by Ministry...Band of Gypsies by Hendrix...My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West...
There's a lot of good shit out there.

I greatly enjoy dark and silent when I trip. I have my own sound track in my head when shrooming.
When I'm not buzzed, I like anything Floyd, Moody Blues, Iron Butterfly, and more than a few others.
One night, when I had my strongest ever trip, I started out listening to Echos (floyd) on my iPod, I was in a parking lot at about 12:30 or 1:00 AM. All of a sudden the streetlights turned green (weird green) and the middle of Echos got so weird I actually got scared by it.
I turned it off, went home, layed down under a blanket on the couch with the lights off. I fucking had the most immense night. I wrote as much as I could down but here almost 6 months later I keep remembering new things, great things and it just adds to the feeling.
No music for me. Dark silent room or out in nature.

it really depends on what i've taken. for just straight tripping on phens/trypts i tend to go from jazz to shoegaze/noisy psych pop to electronic stuff (chillout, idm, dubstep mostly).
some of my favorites, old and new. most of these go way back for me.
broken bells - self titled the shins - wincing the night away sparklehorse - it's a wonderful life pretty much any album by ween medeski, martin & wood - tonic, the dropper, farmer's reserve hendrix - electricladyland pink floyd - ummagumma soul coughing - irresistible bliss tool - lateralus love & rockets - seventh dream of a teenage heaven peter murphy - deep boards of canada - music has the right to children, geodaggi nightmares on wax - smoker's delight, carboot soul dj shadow - endtroducing amon tobin - permutations boymerang - self titled antipop consortium - tragic epilogue eligh - gas dream
i could go on and on.

Can't go wrong with a good live Grateful Dead or Phish show
Brian Eno - Music for Airports
Benn Jordan - Pale Blue Dot
Just to name a few that I've listened through in the past. I can't say I have one specific favorite. Sometimes you just get in the mood for different types of music you know?

I really enjoy Sgt Peppers, and the Beatles 40 Greatest is a great playlist for tripping.
I'm going to be getting into Shpongle soon, I've heard a LOT of good things, and really cant wait for that journey into Hyperspace.
I actually really am not into 'trip music' as most people see it tho. Even a bit of Shpongle turned me off, and I had to sort thru the collection sober to find a good balance.

Me either! The way I look at it good music is good for for tripping. Also, I prefer music with the human voice when I trip. And especially the female voice! I'd estimate that 90% of the music that I trip to has female singers.
Some albums that I have recently enjoyed tripping (besides the Angelfish I posted earlier) are:
Diva Destruction - Passion's Price Garbage - B-Sides Collection (2009 Version)

Well... I just found Shpongle some months back and I will say that one is a great one on mushrooms.
Also, I just started hearing some of that Bluetech and it sounds right up there with Shpongle so that might be next time.
In the past on LSD and on my come down on shrooms this last weekend I reverted to one of my old time favorites. Morbid Angel, "Formulas Fatal to the Flesh". That will take you on a journey if you can get past the "death metal" aspect of it. Seriously, it is a crazy trip. Of course it ends so strangely and abruptly that you just want to hit play again. The day it came out both me and a friend ate 5 hits and listened to it not stop. Funny thing though my friend disappeared and I found him playing it in his car until I told him I was doing the same in the house. If you like heavy metal give it a listen to some time while stoned, and use some headphones.

I don't know what it is about Tool but for some reason no other music comes close to affecting my trip like there's does. I like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and The doors but Tool just reaches my soul and I actually feel like I'm tripping harder when I listen to them. I used to love techno while rolling and tripping but for some reason it doesn't do anything for me now. I tried getting into Shpongle after hearing so much about them on this site but it just doesn't click with me.
The first two Tool albums are great and I listen to them all the time but when I'm tripping I usually stick to the three more recent albums. During the intense come up I like to listen to Lateralus because it seems to be more on the spiritual side and it just seems to help with the anxiety and set the mood perfectly. Then after the come up when I'm sailing I'll throw on Aenima. The energy from this album is a bit more intense and angry and it really gets me into the dancing mood. Then on the come down I'll listen to 10,000 days where I'm usually sitting on my couch in the dark reliving the trip I just experienced. It seems to go well with doing this since it's a bit more chilled out than the other albums but still very intense. I'll change it up from time to time but I prefer to listen to them in this order.

My all time favorite is Smashing Pumpkins - Gish.
More recently I've loved sinking into Captain Beyond's self titled album and Ashbury - Endless Skies.
A newer album I'd recommend is Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound - When Sweet Sleep Returned

I am disappointed to see no Sigur Ros in here. Any one of their albums is good for tripping, but "Agaetis byrjun" is (one of) their best.

Awesome, I really dig their style, thanks for sharing. I haven't heard any of their other songs but I think I'm going to like this band
There's this new wave of 60s influenced psychedelic rock that I can definitely dig Those are the kinds of songs I want to be writing

Amon Duul II
Listen to their album "Yeti"
I remember this song coming on right when I was peaking on some shrooms.. I was crawling around on my floor and everything just became wacky, the music couldn't make sense to me; the chords going down in pitch were too strange.
I also recommend the band Can for shrooming. Particularly their albums Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi and Future Days. They have some of the best drumming and rhythmic music.
examples:
(this song gets me in such a trance.. ahhhh )

Nice choice! ------------------ I haven't tripped that many times while listening to music, surprisingly. Two that come to mind: Does it Look Like I'm Here? - Emeralds Takk.. - Sigur Ros
Emeralds album because it makes me feel like I'm floating throughout space and time when I close my eyes. Sigur Ros because since the words make no sense to me, and I just marvel at what they could be thinking and saying while producing such beautiful music.

Some great suggestions here! Amon Duul II, GonG, YES, Floyd, etc. All awesome music for tripping as well is any Ozric Tentacles album and Steven Hillage Fish Rising.
I would also like to suggest anyone dare to listen to Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica for tripping

My own music which I classify as metaphysical ambience which is my personal soundtrack for psychedelic meditation. The first times I have experienced ego death and the many times I have gone far in attempting astral projection has been to these songs and, truth be told, they catalyzed those experiences.

I'm sure you'll all say you have in one way or the other but one question would be: Did you gain what you had intended to gain from trying psychedelics in the first place?
It's an interesting course of thought to think about what you wanted to gain and what you really have gained and what led to that insight.
One thing I've noticed is symbiosis between seemingly everything at times especially other people like your friends and family. If you do it right this kind of thing will make you want to be a better person and be able to act on it.
----
other stuff that's cool to hear is Dark Star (specifically the Grayfolded album), Chemical Bros., Galactic and Disco Biscuits (sometimes).

I've found that psychadelics really expand my aural dimensions. Anything that is simply center-panned or just left/right panned is so boring. So bye-bye pop, rock, hardcore, and most electronic music too. The only things that really interest me while tripping are complex trip-hop and avant-garde music. So I'm going to have to say that my favorite albums for tripping are:
Merriweather Post Pavilion, by Animal Collective, and either Tip Hop or Wobble Factor, by Tipper.

Mew - And the Glass Handed Kites
I mention this album in every single "favorite trip album" thread on here because I first heard of it here, and I've never had an album affect a trip as powerfully as this one.

They were the clincher when I bought my Coachella ticket but they never showed because of the Iceland volcano.
I try not to overvalue music...but I'm thankful that, no matter what, I'll always have this album.

I've enjoyed listening to Ween and Tenacious D on lucy because it's talented musicians playing silly and twisted songs.
There's this one other song that's good for blasting off called "Blinky Blue-Eyed Sunrise" by The Metalune Mutant. Take a listen

Their live stuff is a different experience from their studio work, but I love both for different reasons.
On the studio side, my starters and still favorites are (in no particular order): Aoxomoxoa Anthem of the Sun Blues for Allah Workingman's Dead American Beauty
On the live side, there are a million Dick's Picks out there that are all stellar live recordings.

AOXOMOXOA (very good album) Anthem of the sun (the grateful dead made this album to follow the sequence of an lsd trip lol, its a really good album) Id say those 2, from there youll find other stuff.

Gotta resurrect this.
I agree with all the floyd recommendations, they are amazing. I really love Gilmour On An Island and Live In Gdansk. here are some others.
Mountain - Mountain Steve vai - The Seventh Song , Tender Surrender is just amazing. Thin lizzy - Jailbreak, Night Life, Black Rose E.L.O - On The Third Day Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow Judas Priest - Sad Wings Of Destiny Daft Punk - Discovery, Random Access Memories Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key of Life Dio - The last In Line .... Anything Dio really, I could list album after album. Journey - Evolution
Haha, thats enough for now.

Ahhh Close To The Edge, a classic trip album! Anyone know about Captain Beefheart?

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band-Trout Mask Replica: What can be said about this album? Don Van Vilet aka 'The Captain' (RIP) locked his disgruntled band in a house for months to slave-drivingly rehearse and record this album.. they lived off of one cup of soybeans a day, rarely leaving. Zappa produced it.. so you know it's good
one song's vocals were recorded through a phone, while the drums & horns were recorded either inside or outside while the recorder was in a bush (or was it the other way around?) Either way this album is weird as fuck. Probobly the weirdest album i've ever heard, and that is saying a lot. Lyrics bleeding of pure Mania, Schizophrenia, Bi-polar, Psychotic creativitiy and Dada with music to match... This album will destroy your world.
I dare you!
Also some lesser known but equally great trip albums....

Gong-You. A very whimsical space/acid/psych that gets jazzy & funky as all hell - this is that type of 70's psych stuff you, your momma/daddy probobly never heard of (because it was so 'underground' ) (no hipster lol).
The Bevis Frond- New River Head. Neo-psych/garagy/lo-fi - amazing songwriting and lead fuzz guitars with sentimental lyrics that you will relate too, not afraid to touch folk territory, Nick Soloman is one of England's premier guitar wizards.
