Many Protesters, Few Alternative Solutions Offered
    #1408106 - 03/25/03 07:38 AM (21 years, 10 days ago)

Im interested in hearing some of the anti-war people's alternative solutions to the current conflict. Please provide a BRIEF explaination weighing the pros AND cons of your argument. Do you...

A. Remove Saddam Hussain through diplomacy. (Please give a historical example of a dictator being removed through diplomacy or explain how this would work to support your point)

B. Continue U.N. sanctions against the people of Iraq.

C. Abandon the anti-saddam policy and simply not deal with Iraq. (ie. support Saddam staying in power)

D. My life is good, why should i care?

E. Other (please explain)

Im not trolling or trying to start a flame war. I am genuinely interested because it is important to offer alternative solutions when you are against the current one. It really helps to strengthen your argument. Good, informed answers will promote healthy discussion.

The problem is the situation should never have been allowed to develop in the first place. The first thing we need to do is take every american politician and corporation who armed and funded Saddam and put them up against a firing squad. That would teach all future US government officials and corporate executives that if you support dictators you pay with your life. Within a generation there'd be a whole lot less dictators in the world.

We need to be looking more at how we stop creating monsters rather than "What do we do with them once we've created them". Prevention is always better than cure.

I would say C, unless he is actually showing agression leave him alone. Iraq is a sovereign country and the U.S. / U.K. has no business there in a pre-emptive strike.

I would also go with C. If the other countries in the U.N. wanna take a shot at him, then let 'em at him. But why should we bother ourselves with him?

I see what everyone is saying. It is so hard to form an opinion when you see both sides so clearly!
