Grain LC Question
    #14084251 - 03/07/11 11:02 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Okay so I couldn't find an answer using search. I have some sweet grain LC I made and I just knocked up some jars but I only used about 1.5cc per pint jar. Should I have used more? I shook up the LC before I drew it out into my syringe but I am still wondering if I for sure got myc into every jar. Should I have just put in like 3-4cc since I have a fuckload of LC or am I fine?

It's ok to use a substantial amount of liquid- 10 mL isn't as much as it looks like.
But you don't need to if the GLC was made correctly. Should be able to use a tiny bit, 0.25 to 0.5 mL to start a jar.
Shake the syringe well first, shake the jar well afterwards to distribute the mycelium.

1.5cc for a pint is more than enough.

you shouldn't need more than a tiny piece of floating mycelium to start an entire jar. i always just look and make sure i see myc going through the needle as i inject to each jar.

oops realized its a glc not a regular lc. you shouldnt need more than 0.5cc/jar.  just a small squirt.

Okay so can anyone gimme an estimate on how long it'll take the grain LC to fully colonize my pint jars? Like an upper bound estimate, assuming the myc was slow colonizing to begin with (around 12 days to almost fully colonize the jar).

7-14 days average to see growth, stop looking, time will go by faster.

Okay it's now been almost 96 hours and i still see literally no growth. Can i reinoculate with more GLC just to be safe or is that poor sanitary practice or something? Haha. I'm going out of town for a week today and i don't want to lose a week on this grow. :um:

Is your GLC diluted? All of mine are. One of mine took 6 days to see growth, another took 3. It took 11 days from inoculation to full colonization on the one that showed signs of growth in three days. The one that showed up in 6 days has about another day to full colonization, been about 13 days. Your good dude:smile:
