You do case BRF when you dunk and roll.

DocT's right, but a BRF will fruit without a casing. Grains alone cannot hold enough moisture to fruit (I think).

Grains will fruit (poorly) uncased. You can pop a block of wbs out of a jar and fruit it like a cake, more or less.

Thanks guys. I've heard of people not doing the dunk& roll and having sucess, so I wasn't sure if it was a needed step. Obvious NOOB. I'm working on BRF now & will try WBSF next. Hopefully the rye will be here soon, ben ordered for 2 wks. I think I have everything cept the rye to try all 3 teks. My verm was supposed to be Med, but when I got home it was coarse, so I run it thru the blender when wife is not home.
I forgot that I knocked up a few bags of rye that I bought on ebay. They 2 look to be doing ok. Checked them a few days ago. Incubating at about 82. Figure another 2-3 wks b4 I can fruit. Think I'll try fruiting in the bags, with the BRF next to them in a FC. Hoping to get at least a few nice ones to make prints for later use. Thanks again
