"Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation", Anyone?

I've been reading and practicing the first method from this book (an extremely good read for anyone interested, I highly recommend it). I've attempted Method I 4 times so far, and I'm not having much luck reaching a meditative state. Though, my 3rd time doing it, I had intense CEV's, comparable to a shroom trip. But, still no 'thoughtlessness'. Does anyone have any tips on how to approach this? And is it necessary to have a clear mind during the exercises that lead up to the meditation? I always have my thoughts racing, which makes this extra hard for me.

Concentrate on your breathing. Think about nothing else other than what is happening inside your body.
Also, once you find your "third eye", focus on it. Put all your attention on making the third eye stay in place, and if you lose it then your probably having a thought. Im not telling you what your third eye is, you will know when it happens.
Be patient. There is no sucess or failure in meditation. It is about the process of practice, not the result.

you don't need to be completely without thought, just try to relax and concentrate on your breathing.
doing some yoga or stretches beforehand can really help
try and fall into the space

Can you elaborate on what this method exactly is? I have the book you speak of but apparently can't find it; I just spent five minutes scanning my bookshelves to no avail.

Don't expect immediate results. I don't anything about the book or exercise but if it promises complete absorption from just a few sittings it's most likely shit.
I am assuming the desired end result is Jhana, or complete meditative absorption. If so, I have been meditating at least an hour a day for the past 4 months and am just starting to get close to these states.

It's on Page 54! Supposedly this meditation is supposed to help train you to clear your mind, but that's exactly the opposite of what happens when I do try it. One of the exercises that leads up to the meditation involves breathing very hard for 3 minutes, than laying down for 10 minutes. It says to focus on how you feel, but I always seem to fall asleep or get into a half dream state when I do it! I'm not going to stop practicing though.
