Recently I have just started to make my voice heard by protesting the actions of my government.  Just simple things, joining groups online, posting informative videos, and speaking my mind on facebook.

I would really like to step up my actions, but I don't really know what to do or how to do it.  And at the same time be safe about it so I dont endanger my family.

Could anybody recommend me any reading or video's that teach how to effectively protest?  I guess my main motivation is to make the rest of my country aware of what is happening, and to hopefully remove the problem(s) that are currently in office.

I am looking over the canadian charter of rights ( http://www.canadianlawsite.ca//CdnCharter.htm ) and making sure I am working within the law.

Thanks for any help!

Be careful. If your country is anything like the US, you'll have FEDS and everybody else watching you to make sure your not an extremist.

Ok, sorry man, just stated my opinion that's not called trolling...

Can you tell me against which actions of your government you'd like to protest? And what you hope to accomplish?

and now that you're discouraged, you should realize that non-violence
makes it pretty easy for the big goons with the big guns, maybe some radicalism or violence is what you're looking for

Try starting a local group that meets maybe once a month or once a week, has a mailing list and an agenda.  If it is a drug reform group, you could recruit members at hempfests, parties, friends of friends, etc.

"Recipes for Disaster" has some chapters that are extremely relevant to what you want to do.  Its a great book as well.

I know a lot of activists and none of them are particularly hampered by the feds.  I wouldn't worry about them unless you are breaking a lot of serious laws.  Protesting is virtually legal and when people do get busted its typically for minor misdemeanor BS.

I think effective protest techniques are a legitimate subject of study.  Everyone wants to change the world, but knowing how to actually go about it is the difference between someone who sits around and hits the bong and someone whos actions make the news and get the positive attention of legislators.  There are a huge number of factors to consider, and having your protest make the correct type of impact on the proper people is a bit of a black art / science.

there's no such thing as legitimate protest, at least not in this system.

like duane allman said, There ain't no revolution, it's evolution.

evolve your body and mind, revolution of any kind is merely an illusion

Yeah you pretty much should just order these http://www.crimethinc.com/books/

Soon you too can be a postmodern anticapitalist neoanarchist libertarian street kid.  But only once youve purchased these books.

OP we're on the same page, i dot put to much on facebook because it fucking fries my mind to go on that site, but when prop 19 was going on i went out and distributed flyer and talked to people on my college campus.

it seems so hard to accomplish stuff being young in a world with so many different voices, just be the change you want to see in the world and hope for the best.

OP I know exactly what you're talking about, and I've felt the same way for a while...

Check out my site in my sig, I started that as a form of getting the word out after getting arrested during the g20.

There is also a group called LeadNow that started up this month, which seems very well organized and seems like it could get some momentum behind it.  I have an article on my site about it, check it out, its pretty interesting stuff.  They have like 60 events organized this week for anyone to attend, just face to face meetings to get a sense of what people want to change and/or strengthen about Canada.  Their organization is about moving Canada from Canadians being told who to vote for/what the issues are, to Canadians telling politicians what the issues are then voting en mass for whoever commits to the group's user-chosen issues.

Edit: I should clarify that none of these initiatives have anything to do with violence/advocation of violence lol
