Brugmansia
    #14077670 - 03/06/11 08:17 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Today I was driving on the way to my farm and stopped to pick a few branches to make cuttings, they are on their way already so lets see how they go. Im rooting them in plain moist sand since they seem to be easily rooted. The flowers were peach colored. I see them here every now and then, from blue to white.

I have never drank "campana" tea because the common opinion about them is that it can blow your brains out. I personally believe that people who stay twisted after doing campana either overdosed or were schizophrenic or something.

From what I understand it is a very potent hallucinogen, more intense than acid and shrooms, but its seems to be somewhat freakish.

Does anyone else ever thought that a brugmansia trip must be kinda like the trip the flower in Batman Begins gives?

Try this question in the psychedelic experience forum man.  Here we focus on cultivation of plants not consumption.

While I do agree with you in principle ferrel, seeing as Brugmansia is so dangerous I will keep this thread here as I don't trust the replies the OP will get in the Psychedelic Experience. If others don't agree I will move the thread.

@Ric: I think Brugmansia is more like a hellraiser type trip but you interpret what you see as being real, unlike traditional psychedelics and this is where the danger lies. It can also kill you as the dosage can vary considerably between plants. I suggest you don't consume it but if you do decide to do so read, read and read all about it that you can. Then start very low and make sure you have a sober sitter. One you fully trust and who is there from the start right through until you come back from hell.

It is not a traditional psychedelic. It is a deliriant and it is no fun.

Your cuttings should strike roots in 2-4 weeks. They're very easy.

i agree. brugmansia and the other one, forgot the name, are very serious, if not, fatal drugs.

everyone is always trying to get high somehow with out proper warning.

i guess my growing plants for fun side of me has been quick to judge.

hey rik, what kinda of a mod would want to save your life?

its seems that K-man has got your back.

Well I am not really planning on consuming it just like that. I mean, its so infamous that my friend who was with me when i stopped to take some branches he wouldnt even touch it. I am only intending to propagate a few cuttings, maybe sell them on ebay at half price or something, plant one or two.  While reading i found another plant Physostigma venenosum or calabar bean that produces antagonist alkaloids to the one produced by campana.

I realize we are not talking of simple alkaloids, but rather hardcore poisonous compounds. Still I grow many plants that I dont intend to consume.

Who cultivates plants like this for the pharmaceutical industry?? Do they pharmaceutical companies grow their own plants???

Pharmaceutical companies purchase their plants from growers, but many are under contract, so the pharmaceutical companies might as well own them.

Contrary to popular belief there are only a handful of drugs actually derived from plant sources.  Even less that are still manufactured using plant-based extracts.

To answer your original question:
Brugmansia, fun to look at, not to smoke.

I can't attest personally, but then again, I tend to stay away from things that drag me down to hell.  (datura, brugmansia, henbane, women, etc.)

I grow Brugmansia candida and a few different types of Datura as I enjoy the history they have and also the beautiful flowers which I admire. I learnt a long time ago not to fuck with these plants.
